I just sold my Ford Aspire diesel. I am looking to choose between Fronx CNG and Brezza CNG. We are a couple with 2 kids. My run will be 40% city and 60% highway. My preference is a comfortable ride for the family and an easy-to-manoeuvre car between these two. I will wait for the underbody CNG updates in both cars. Which car should we buy? Please assist. Monthly running is 1,200-1,500km.

You can't go wrong with either of the two cars. However, since you are looking at ride quality and drive more on highways, we'd recommend you lean towards the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The ride and handling set-up of the Brezza has an emphasis on a cushioned low-speed ride, and thus, potholes in the city are well absorbed with hardly any harshness. The softer spring, though, means there is some pitch and squat on undulating highways, and since you drive more on the highways, the Fronx would thus be better.
It offers a more stable high-speed ride, and while the ride quality is definitely stiffer than the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, it’s not uncomfortable or jarring. The rear room is also lower than the Brezza, but given that it's your two kids who would sit at the back, the Fronx should not be a problem here, too.

I was initially planning to buy the Maruti Suzuki Dzire VXI, but after reconsidering my priorities, mainly ground clearance, I’m now leaning towards the Maruti Suzuki Brezza LXI with the Urbano kit (~₹10k). My budget is very tight, capped at around ₹9 lakh on-road. However, I’ve recently heard about an upcoming Brezza facelift. Since I’ve already been waiting for a month due to Dzire delivery delays, should I continue waiting for the facelift or go ahead with the current model? Also, my key priorities are good mileage, low maintenance cost, and long-term reliability, so which option would make more practical sense?

Given your priorities and a tight Rs 9 lakh on-road cap, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza LXi (current model) is the sensible choice right now. With 198 mm of ground clearance, it’s far better suited to bad roads, tall speed breakers and occasional rough use than the Dzire, which has about 163 mm of clearance. 

There is a Brezza facelift on the way, but updates are expected to be mainly cosmetic and feature-related, with the possibility of a price increase when it launches. So, to avoid further delay and likely price hikes, it’s better to buy the current Brezza now; with the facelift around the corner, you can even negotiate harder on the outgoing car as dealers will gradually be looking to clear stock.

With your Rs 9 lakh on-road ceiling, the Brezza LXi is right on the edge but still realistically achievable in many cities, especially if you push for discounts. Just confirm the exact on-road price and the cost of the Urbano kit (~Rs 10k) with your local dealer. Compared with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire VXi, you gain roughly 30-35 mm of extra ground clearance (around 163 mm vs 198 mm), which directly addresses your main concern of scraping on speed breakers and broken roads. 

Maintenance remains straightforward for both cars, with typical Maruti service intervals of 10,000 km or 12 months, and parts and labour are among the most affordable in the segment. In terms of fuel efficiency, you can expect the Brezza 1.5 MT to deliver around 13-15 km/l in the city and 17-19 km/l on the highway in real-world use. The lighter Dzire is more efficient overall, but the Brezza still offers a good balance of mileage, robustness and long-term reliability.

I am planning to buy a new automatic car with a budget of around ₹12 lakh. My driving will be mostly in the city, with occasional highway trips on weekends. I would prefer a car with a peppy engine and good safety. I currently own a Kia Sonet iMT, so I would prefer suggestions from brands other than Kia.

The Mahindra XUV3XO will meet your requirements of a car with a peppy engine and good safety. The petrol automatic comes paired with a torque convertor gearbox, which is the smoothest autobox around. Since your driving is mostly in the city, you will really appreciate this. 

We would recommend the 1.2 litre MPFi turbo engine, which would offer you more than enough pep and a slightly better mileage than the direct injection unit. Though bear in mind that on the whole, mileage will still be lower than something like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, as Mahindra tunes all its engines for a peppy feel. 

If mileage isn't a priority and you simply want a very peppy and lively drive feel, opt for the direct injection unit. The 3XO will also meet your requirements for safety as it comes well equipped with 6 airbags and ESP as standard, and it has secured a 5-star rating in the BNCAP crash tests

Hi, first of all, thanks to Autocar for always replying to each query. I am looking for an automatic car. It should have a peppy engine and be fun to drive with proper safety. I am looking to buy a car within a budget of ₹13 lakh (on-road) in Mumbai. My usage will be around 80-90% in the city and 10-20% on highways. The car should be well-equipped with all essential interior and exterior features, offer good comfort for my parents, and ensure low maintenance along with reliable, hassle-free ownership. I may also use it occasionally for long trips. I am specifically looking for an automatic variant and have shortlisted the Honda Elevate V AT. Could you please advise if this is the right choice or suggest better alternatives within my budget?

Your budget rules out the Honda Elevate V CVT in Mumbai (it sits around the Rs 15.5 lakh; check with the dealer for current pricing). But if you are able to get a good discount and stretch your budget a bit, it is definitely worth going for. 

The Elevate has a peppy 1.5 petrol engine mated to a seamless CVT gearbox, and being a Honda model, it will be reliable and stress-free to maintain. Getting in and out of the Elevate is also easy, and it has a comfy ride quality, which means your parents will be comfortable in this SUV. Being the V variant, it misses out on some feel-good features, but it does get all the necessary features. 

However, if you want to stick to your budget strictly, consider the Maruti Brezza. Although it is a smaller SUV than the Elevate, it still has a spacious cabin, a comfy ride quality, and a smooth engine-gearbox combination. Also, being a Maruti, it will be reliable and easy to maintain.

I am planning to buy a Brezza CNG Zxi. I have heard a facelift is expected around April-May 2026, which may come with an underbody CNG tank and a manual 6-speed gearbox replacing the existing 5-speed gearbox. Should I wait, or should I buy right now?

The update is expected around April-May 2026, and there are chances that the CNG version could get improvements such as a better-packaged CNG tank, like in the Maruti Victoris and possibly a 6-speed manual. Even if the exact changes are different from what is currently expected, the facelift will at least bring cosmetic updates and feature additions.
Since the timeline is quite close, waiting a few weeks will give you clarity on what the updated model offers. If the changes are meaningful, you can buy the new version. If they are minor, you can still choose the current model, often with better discounts as dealers clear older stock.
Given how close the facelift appears to be, it makes sense to wait a little before buying the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG so you can decide with full information once the updated model is revealed.

I need a car for my daily commute, and my travel will be around 50-60 km every day. Most of my driving will be within the city, along with occasional highway drives on weekends. My budget should allow for an EMI of less than ₹20,000 per month. Considering my usage, should I go for a diesel or a CNG car, and which option would you recommend?

With your daily running of around 50-60 km, your monthly usage will easily cross 1,500 km, so choosing a fuel with low running costs makes sense. In this case, CNG is generally a better fit than diesel, especially since most of your driving is in the city.

One of the better options to consider is the Tata Nexon CNG. Unlike most CNG cars, the Nexon uses a turbo-petrol engine, which means it still feels reasonably strong and comfortable even on the highway. The turbo engine produces good torque, which helps maintain performance despite running on CNG. This makes the Nexon CNG a good balance between low running costs for the city and decent highway performance for weekend drives.

Another practical option is the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG, particularly the LXi or VXi variants. The Brezza uses a 1.5-litre engine with factory-fitted CNG. It is known for being smooth and reliable while still offering good mileage and reasonable performance.

I am planning to sell my Mahindra XUV500 as it is nearing the end of its registration validity in Delhi NCR, and I want to buy a 5-seater SUV under ₹10 lakh. My preference is for a fuel-efficient car as my daily running is around 100 km, but it should also be spacious enough for five people. Since fuel efficiency is a priority, I am open to both CNG and diesel cars. My usage will be 70% city and 30% highway, mostly within Delhi NCR. I have narrowed my choices to the Maruti Brezza CNG, Tata Nexon CNG, Kia Sonet Diesel, and Maruti Fronx CNG. Please help me evaluate which would be the better option. I am also open to any other better option if available.

The Maruti Brezza CNG and Fronx CNG will be more fuel efficient than the Nexon iCNG, and their clutch and gearbox make them friendlier to drive, too. The Brezza is due for a facelift in the coming weeks, so you might want to wait for that to arrive. 

The Kia Sonet diesel will feel punchier to drive (than the CNG options listed above), while being very efficient too. Also, by opting for a diesel, you won't need to wait in long queues to refill CNG. Even the Sonet is due for a generation update, which is likely to be launched this year. 

Another option you could consider is the Mahindra XUV 3XO diesel MX2, which is more spacious than a Sonet. Its ride-handling balance is very impressive; the Sonet, however, has an edge in terms of fuel efficiency.
