I am looking for a compact suv near 14-15 lacs. But can't decide . Initially I thought among Brezza, Venue and Sonet. Now I am seeing every car has some or the other shortcomings. I need a 5 seater comfortable car, automatic which will mostly be for city use and sometimes long drives with family. Should I consider the upper segments car like Elevate and Seltos but again budget will be high. So I am quite confused.

Given your budget, you should stick to the compact SUV segment, as you will only get a base model of a midsize SUV in this budget. Of course, any product will have its shortcomings, but the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, and Hyundai Venue are all good options in the compact SUV space.
The Brezza is the most spacious and practical of the lot, and it also has a good ride quality. The Kia Sonet is a great car too, but it's not comfortable for five, and its suspension is quite stiff. The Hyundai Venue is the newest and a good all-rounder, but expensive for higher variants.
We would recommend the Hyundai Venue HX8 1.0 Turbo Petrol DCT in your budget as it is a great combination of features, safety, and comfort, and would best meet your needs.

Hi Team, I’m 6’3″ tall and based in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. This is for my first car with an on-road budget of ₹15 lakh, and I’m looking for an automatic. I’ll be driving about 300 km per month within the city, plus around five long trips per year. Could you please suggest suitable car options?

Given your height, the Kia Syros is a model to consider. It's the roomiest car for the money, and the combination of its high roof and large glass area is sure to put you at immediate ease. The Syros Turbo DCT HTX fits within your budget and packs in a fair few wow features, like a crisp 12.3-inch touchscreen. The Syros Turbo DCT is nice to drive too, but ride comfort is a bit on the firm side.
Alternatively, you could look at the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which is a practical and sensible compact SUV with enough room to accommodate someone of your height.

Hello Team Autocar, I am planning to upgrade from my 2018 Honda Amaze. My monthly running is around 500 km, mostly within the city. I am looking for a mid-size SUV that is enjoyable to drive in the city and comfortable for occasional long trips, with a good cabin feel. My budget is between ₹13-16 lakh. I have shortlisted the Brezza but am exploring alternatives.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is a car you simply can't go wrong with; it delivers on all aspects - space, comfort, features, efficiency, reliability, and more. But this Maruti Suzuki car falls within the compact SUV category. If you're looking for something a touch larger, why not consider the Honda Elevate?
Being a Honda car, the ownership experience will be familiar and hassle-free. Moreover, the Elevate's excellent seat and ride comfort make it a great choice. Its 1.5-litre petrol engine is punchy, the seating position is high, and its cabin also feels quite upmarket. You could get the mid CVT version for its smoothness and convenience, or pick one of the higher manual trims that'll fall within your budget.
If not the Honda Elevate, a Maruti Suzuki Victoris will also be a good upgrade from an Amaze.

My budget is ₹10-11 lakh, and this will be my first car. My monthly driving will be less than 200km. Please suggest a suitable option.

Without knowing other requirements, it is hard to pinpoint the ideal car for you. However, given that you are a new driver, we will give greater weightage to ease of use and hassle-free ownership. Based on body style, here are a few suitable options to consider:

I need a car for my family under 15 lakhs. My height is 6 ft, so smaller cars are uncomfortable for me. I would like to go for a safe & reliable car. My running is under 500km monthly, with 80% city and 20% highway. I'm okay with a pre-owned car/SUV as well. Thanks!

Given your height, we feel a compact SUV will best suit your requirements. Among the models within your budget, the Kia Syros is the roomiest and will be very comfortable for your build. There's a lot of space at the back too, and the luggage room is also good.
This Kia car comes packed with plenty of safety kit as standard, and has the added reassurance of a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating. It is easy to drive, though the ride quality can feel slightly firm.
Of the other new options within your budget, the Nissan Magnite Turbo, Renault Kiger Turbo, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and lower trim versions of the Honda Elevate and Hyundai Creta are also worth a look.

Hi, my current car is mostly used for office tours, and it runs around 30,000 km per year. I am planning to buy a new car with the best fuel economy. My budget is within ₹10 lakh after exchanging my old car. Please suggest which company and model would be the best, considering mileage, maintenance cost, and reliability.

Given your use case, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is a model worth considering. It's an efficient and hassle-free compact SUV, and Maruti's massive service network is a big plus point in its own right. The Brezza is easy to drive and also quite roomy for its size, which passengers will appreciate. You will get a lower-spec variant within your budget.

I'm looking to buy my first car. Although I have good experience in driving cars, this will be my first own car. We are a family of 4 + 1 kid living in Kolkata and have a relocatable job (mostly in tier 1/2 cities). I'm looking for a long-term car (5+ years). Monthly, I need to drive ~500kms and 3/4 long drives in a year. Preferably automatic, as monthly 500kms are inside the city. Had evaluated Kylaq, Elevate, 3X0 and Brezza. Now with the Sierra and MG Hector 2026 models, I'm completely lost. Suggest

Since this is your first car, it's best to play it safe and go with a trusted brand you know will be reliable and cost-effective. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza, though not an exciting car, will best suit your needs. It is pretty spacious, has a smooth automatic option and is reasonably well-equipped.
If your budget allows, consider the Honda Elevate, which is more spacious than the Brezza and hence more comfortable for your 4+1 family. It has a bigger boot too. If you are relocated to a Tier 2 city, the Brezza will benefit from Maruti Suzukis extensive dealer network.

I am a retired 60-year-old living in Delhi. My driver will use the car for about 500 km per month and 5-6 upcountry trips. My budget is ₹10-15 lakh, and I want a safe automatic car. I have shortlisted the Brezza, Venue, Kylaq, and Nexon. Which one should I go for?

Maruti Suzuki Brezza can be a good option for you. It is a no-nonsense car, with 6 airbags, 4-star crash test ratings and the reliability of Maruti. Although the engine performance is not very exciting, the torque converter automatic is smooth. It is spacious and has decent features, and is easy to maintain.

Please advise me on choosing the best petrol automatic car within a ₹13-14 lakh on-road budget in Bangalore for a family of four. My driving is evenly split between city and highway use. I have shortlisted the Maruti Brezza AT, Skoda Kylaq or Mahindra XUV 3XO AT, and Hyundai Venue DCT. While the Brezza seems practical, I am concerned about its driving engagement. The Kylaq and 3XO raise doubts around mileage and long-term reliability, and the Venue DCT makes me unsure about gearbox reliability and turbo efficiency in Bangalore traffic. Is the Brezza’s driving experience truly disappointing for someone who enjoys driving?

All the models you have shortlisted have their highlights and weaknesses. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is a well-rounded vehicle that excels in space and comfort. Maruti's service network is a huge plus in its own right. However, as you rightly identified, the Brezza is not exciting to drive. This Maruti Suzuki car's performance is fine in city driving conditions, and it will cruise comfortably on the highway. But the engine lacks punch in case that's important to you.

If strong performance and good handling are requirements, the Skoda Kylaq and Mahindra XUV 3XO are the ones to be most interested in. Both models are good to drive, but fuel economy could be a concern in bumper-to-bumper city driving.

We feel you will find a good balance in the Hyundai Venue 1.0 Turbo DCT. The engine is strong enough, and the gearshifts are also nice and quick. DCTs do tend to fumble at low speeds and aren't as smooth as torque converter autos. Although, it's not really an issue and surely not to the extent of avoiding the gearbox type altogether.

Fuel economy should also be better than what you'd get with a torque converter.  The new Venue is also quite a wholesome package. The cabin is quite spacious, and the material quality is impressive.

Please advise on choosing between the following petrol automatic cars priced at ₹13-14 lakh on-road in Bangalore for a family of four. My usage is split 50:50 between city and highway driving. 1. Brezza AT: sensible and practical, but feels unenthusiastic to drive. 2. Kylaq or 3XO AT: poor mileage and reliability (I am an existing Skoda owner) 3. Venue DCT – good overall, but concerned about DCT reliability and 1.0 turbo efficiency in Bangalore traffic Is the Brezza’s driving experience really that dull, considering I do enjoy driving?

Since you enjoy driving, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, while the safest choice overall, is not a fun car to drive. The 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol isn’t very powerful, so while it's adequate in town, it’s not meant for spirited driving and will disappoint the enthusiast in you.
We feel you should reconsider the Skoda Kylaq. Its 1.0 TSI engine paired with the smooth-shifting 6-speed AT works well in the city and on the highway, and is a nicer gearbox than the Venue’s DCT, which, though quite reliable, feels a little jerky in slow-moving traffic. Yes, Skoda doesn’t have the best reputation for after-sales experience, but we feel the Kylaq is fundamentally a fairly reliable car.
