Hi Autocar Team, I am planning to buy my first car and am confused between the Mahindra XUV 3XO RevX A MT Petrol and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXi+ Turbo MT Petrol. I feel the Brezza offers better value for money, more features, and is actually priced lower than the 3XO. At the same time, I understand that the Brezza offers better reliability, fuel efficiency, and long-term peace of mind. However, the 3XO feels more premium and, from what I have heard, offers a better ride quality. I plan to keep the car for 10 years or more, so long-term ownership is an important factor. Could you please suggest which of these two would be the better choice for my requirements?

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXi+ turbo MT petrol. For a first car with a 10+ year ownership plan, the Brezza works well. Maruti’s service network, proven reliability and lower long-term maintenance costs make it a stress-free ownership proposition. The Brezza’s turbo petrol engine is also well-suited to Indian conditions, offering good drivability and efficiency without being overly complex. The Mahindra XUV 3XO RevX A MT petrol does make sense too, but we would lean towards it more if a peppy and lively drive feel is what you are after. Overall, the ride and handling balance is better with the 3XO, which has a good mix of city comfort and high-speed stability. The Brezza, however, leans towards the city with a much more pliant ride at low speeds. Thus for you keeping in mind a long ownership period, we would lean towards the Brezza.

Being a Maruti Suzuki customer for 15 years now and I am very much used to hassle free ownership considering Brezza ZXI+ Petrol AT NA engine compared to TCMPFI AT in 3XO or Nexon DCA (dropped due to DCA). However, considering upfront extra cost for Brezza coupled with smart hybrid replacement possibility and no spare wheel, I am simply unable to convince myself to go for Brezza top variant as I like 360 camera feature. With my congested traffic city driving around 500-800 km per month, will it be still worth to pay additional 2.30 lakh rupees compared to any car in segment, only for Maruti Suzuki brand especially when competition is offering so much more for such a lesser price than Brezza top variant. Lesser mileage costs also gets compensated for any turbo engine with lesser purchase cost than Brezza.

You should definitely go for the Brezza ZXi+ AT if you are used to Maruti's hassle-free ownership experience and running costs as no other car in the segment comes close on that front. It is not more expensive than top variants of the Nexon or XUV 3XO, which in fact cost around Rs. 1 lakh more, on road, and instead it is one of the more reasonably priced cars in the segment, despite not qualifying for small-car tax benefits with the 1.5-litre engine. With the latest version, you get a few more features too, like ventilated seats and some driver assist features, but overall, it is not as well equipped as others in the segment. Despite having a larger engine and a torque-converter automatic gearbox, the Brezza AT is more fuel efficient than most other cars in the segment, especially the turbo-petrols, which drink a lot when you drive them eagerly. We would recommend checking the prices again on our website or with your local dealers, as all things considered, the Brezza does seem like the best deal for you.

I'm planning to buy a new car with a budget of Rs. 8-10 lakh. I currently own a Hyundai Santro Xing and am looking to upgrade. I have shortlisted the Hyundai i20 Magna and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza LXi Turbo. We are a family of five, and my average monthly running is around 1,500 km. My priorities are comfort and good fuel efficiency. Which of these would you recommend, or is there a better option within my budget?

For a family of five with 1,500km a month, comfort and good mileage are key. The Hyundai i20 Magna is a good hatchback, but it won't feel like a big upgrade from your Santro Xing in terms of space. The Maruti Brezza LXI Turbo is the better choice here. It offers a more spacious cabin, a higher seating position and better comfort for five occupants. The turbo petrol engine should also be relatively efficient and well suited to your running. The Brezza is also a practical, reliable and comfortable SUV that will serve you well for years. Go for the Brezza LXI Turbo.

I'm confused between Tata Punch 1.2 Adventure AMT and Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXI Turbo. Both are priced almost the same. My usage will mostly be weekend city driving, with the occasional 100+ km highway trip. The Punch offers more features for the price, while the Brezza has the advantage of Maruti Suzuki's proven reliability, lower maintenance costs, and excellent after-sales service. Considering my usage and priorities, which one would you recommend?

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXI Turbo. Your usage is mostly weekend city driving with occasional highway trips, and in that scenario, the Brezza is the more sensible long-term choice. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine is punchy enough for city use and overtakes on the highway, while Maruti’s service network, lower maintenance costs and proven reliability make ownership far easier over the years. The Brezza also feels like a more substantial car, with better space and a more mature ride, which you will appreciate on longer drives. The Tata Punch 1.2 Adventure AMT does offer more features for the price, but the engine-AMT gearbox combination is slow, which won't feel as effortless to drive as the Brezza Turbo in hilly regions around Guwahati. Yes, with the Brezza Turbo, you only get a manual transmission, but unless having a clutch-free experience is an absolute must-have, get the Brezza.

I have waited more than six months for the Brezza facelift/update, and now I’m a bit confused between the engine options. Initially, I was leaning towards the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) engine, but the 1.0-litre Boosterjet now seems like the better value-for-money option. I don’t want to retrofit any accessories from the aftermarket. The Brezza VXI 1.0-litre Boosterjet has all the features I need except the 60:40 split-folding rear seats. On the other hand, the Brezza ZXI 1.5-litre NA has all the features I want, but it also comes with a sunroof, which I don’t really need. In my city, the on-road price difference between the Brezza VXI Turbo and the Brezza ZXI NA is Rs. 2,29,000. My biggest concerns are: Long-term reliability, Maintenance costs, Compatibility with future ethanol fuel blends, and Carbon buildup on the intake valves. If it occurs, what would be the repair or cleaning cost? Will the 1.0-litre Boosterjet continue to perform as well as the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine if higher ethanol fuel blends become common in the future? Is there any reason to believe I might regret choosing the 1.0-litre Boosterjet over the 1.5-litre NA in the long run? Budget: Maximum ₹10.6 lakh (ex-showroom) Models under consideration: Brezza VXI Turbo (1.0-litre Boosterjet) and Brezza ZXI NA (1.5-litre) Primary usage: Less than 850 km per month, school commute: 25 km round trip per day (~650 km/month), weekend family drives (3–5 members): ~200 km/month, driving pattern: 50% city (Tier-3 city) and 50% village roads and highways, one or two annual hill-station trips, each approximately 800 km round trip, and First-time car buyer.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXI Turbo 1.0 Boosterjet. At under 850 km a month, the 1.0 turbo makes more sense than the 1.5 naturally aspirated engine. It is more fuel efficient in real-world conditions, especially on your mix of city, village roads and highways, and the Rs 2.3 lakh price difference to the ZXI NA is simply not justified for your usage. The Boosterjet is a proven engine with a good reliability record, and Maruti’s service network and low maintenance costs remain a key strength. On ethanol, both engines are E20-compliant, and there is no official roadmap beyond E20, so there is no reason to expect the 1.0 turbo to be disadvantaged versus the 1.5 NA. Carbon build-up is not a major concern on modern turbo petrol with regular maintenance, and Maruti’s service costs for such issues are generally reasonable. The only real drawback this Maruti Suzuki car has is the lack of a 60:40 split rear seat, but that is a minor compromise given the overall value. The 1.5 NA is a smooth and reliable engine, but at your running and budget, the 1.0 turbo is the smarter choice. You will not regret it in the long run.
