I'm planning to buy a new car with a budget of Rs. 8-10 lakh. I currently own a Hyundai Santro Xing and am looking to upgrade. I have shortlisted the Hyundai i20 Magna and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza LXi Turbo. We are a family of five, and my average monthly running is around 1,500 km. My priorities are comfort and good fuel efficiency. Which of these would you recommend, or is there a better option within my budget?

For a family of five with 1,500km a month, comfort and good mileage are key. The Hyundai i20 Magna is a good hatchback, but it won't feel like a big upgrade from your Santro Xing in terms of space. The Maruti Brezza LXI Turbo is the better choice here. It offers a more spacious cabin, a higher seating position and better comfort for five occupants. The turbo petrol engine should also be relatively efficient and well suited to your running. The Brezza is also a practical, reliable and comfortable SUV that will serve you well for years. Go for the Brezza LXI Turbo.

Hello Auto Car Team, I am planning to buy my first car and would appreciate your guidance. My primary usage will be monthly trips to my hometown, covering around 800 km per trip, once or twice a month. Most of the time, the car will be used by two occupants. My budget is around Rs. 10 lakh, although I can stretch it by another Rs. 1 lakh if the additional value is justified. The cars currently on my shortlist are Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXi, Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro, Honda Amaze VX and Tata Punch Adventure Turbo. My key priorities include good fuel efficiency, safety, comfort for long-distance travel as well as low maintenance and reliability as this will be my first car. Given my requirements and budget, which of these cars would you recommend? Also, if there are any better alternatives that I should consider, please let me know. Thank you for your help.

Given your usage pattern of regular 800 km highway trips with two occupants, your priorities of fuel efficiency, safety, comfort and low maintenance, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXi is the most sensible choice from your shortlist. Since a lot of your driving is going to be on the highway, opt for the turbo petrol manual. It has much better overtaking performance than the naturally aspirated version and with a tall sixth gear, fuel efficiency will be good too. It is also a proven, reliable and low-maintenance car with a comfortable ride, good highway stability and a strong service network, which is exactly what you want in a first car that will see long-distance use. The downside is that the turbo doesn't come with an automatic option. The Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro is the more modern and feature-rich option, however the Brezza still has the edge in terms of long-term reliability. The Honda Amaze VX is a good sedan with a comfortable ride and Honda's reputation for reliability, but given your highway usage and the occasional rough patches you may encounter, the higher ground clearance and more robust nature of the Brezza make it the better fit. The Tata Punch is a good value proposition, but it is a smaller car and not as well roomy as the Brezza.Overall the Brezza VXi remains the most balanced and dependable choice for your requirements.

I am planning to purchase a primarily sub-4 metre automatic SUV for tax-saving purposes under the BH series registration. We are expecting a baby soon, so the car will mainly be used by a family of three, with occasional travel involving four people. I have already test driven the Skoda Kylaq, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Maruti Brezza. While I am not a driving enthusiast by nature, I found the Brezza’s pick-up and acceleration above 70 km/h somewhat underwhelming. I loved almost everything about the Kylaq except for the AC performance, which feels like a major drawback for Indian summers and traffic conditions. As for the XUV 3XO, I have come across mixed reviews regarding high-speed stability and after-sales service, although I personally did not feel any issues during the test drive. My priorities are: Good fuel efficiency Comfortable city usability (monthly running around 600–800 km in Hyderabad) Performance and highway capability for 2-3 long trips annually Strong safety credentials Decent long-term maintenance costs and peace of mind ownership Good warranty and service packages My budget is around ₹14-15 lakh and can be stretched slightly if required. I am also open to considering sedans like the Honda City or slightly larger SUVs like the Honda Elevate if they make more sense overall. Could you please suggest the best option for my requirements?

Mostly city use in Hyderabad and a few long trips - in that brief, the Mahindra XUV 3XO automatic fits you best among your picks. It pulls strongly when you need to pass, so you won’t face the same dull pick-up you felt in the Brezza, and it stays steady at highway speeds. The AC cools the cabin quickly, and the rear seat is shaped well for a child seat with one adult beside it.A few watch-outs: the boot is not very big, so check whether your stroller fits. It also lacks ventilated seats, which is something you might want. Alternatively, consider the Kia Syros if you want a roomier cabin and a bigger boot.If a Honda Elevate fits your budget, this Honda car would be a better choice than the sub-4 metre SUVs, but you might have to opt for a lower trim and miss out on some features. Overall, the Mahindra is a good fit for your needs.

I currently drive a Hyundai i10 CNG, with a monthly running of around 400 km, and am now planning to upgrade my car with an on-road budget of around ₹15 lakh. My running could increase to nearly 1,000 km per month in the future if my work location changes. My key priorities are: Good suspension and ride comfort Good fuel efficiency in heavy city traffic Low maintenance costs Comfortable seats for daily usage A feature like ventilated seats would be nice to have, but it is not essential. I am currently considering the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, and even upcoming ICE/CNG/EV options. I am also open to considering a used car that is up to 3 years old if it offers better value.

You should consider the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG, ideally the mid variant. It fits your brief because it gives very good mileage in stop-go traffic, and if your running rises to 1,000 km a month, the lower fuel cost helps even more. The suspension deals well with rough city roads, the seats are supportive for long hours, and Maruti’s service is easy and usually light on the wallet.Know the trade-offs: The CNG is only available with a manual, and it will feel underpowered on hills or with a full load. The CNG tank also eats into boot space. If you want an automatic for traffic, pick the Tata Punch CNG AMT automatic instead; you’ll lose some mileage, and it's a smaller car, but it will be more convenient to drive.

My monthly running is approximately 200 km in Mumbai, along with one or two trips a year to nearby places. I am confused about whether buying a car even makes sense for my usage. For reference, I currently have three options in mind including Nissan Magnite Tekna+ MT, Mahindra XUV 3XO REVX Petrol MT and Maruti Brezza ZXI MT. If I do buy a car, my priorities are safety, space, features, and ease of driving in the city.

With just 200 km a month in Mumbai and only one or two short road trips a year, buying a new car only makes sense if you value the convenience, safety and freedom of having your own vehicle more than pure cost efficiency. Financially, cabs and rentals would likely make more sense at this level of usage. But if the decision is driven by convenience and the comfort of having your own car available whenever you need it, then it can still absolutely be justified.Of your three options, the Brezza ZXi MT fits your brief best. It is simply the easiest to live with in the city thanks to its light controls, good all-round visibility and a comfortable ride that handles Mumbai’s broken roads well. This Maruti Suzuki car also offers good rear seat comfort and a practical boot for those occasional weekend trips, while being straightforward and stress-free to own.The XUV 3XO is the more feature-rich option and feels more substantial from a safety perspective, but it is the heavier car to drive in traffic and does not feel as effortless in everyday city use. The Magnite offers strong value, but compared to the other two, it does not feel as premium, and whether you choose the turbo or naturally aspirated petrol, this Nissan car does not feel quite as effortless to drive in urban conditions either. The Nissan Magnite price starts at 5.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
