We like

  • Feature-rich

  • Spacious cabin and practical boot

  • Impressive performance and range

We don't like

  • Misses wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay

  • Slightly knees-up rear seating

  • Heavier steering than standard Creta

Even though it is based on the ICE version, the Electric variant sports distinct EV styling. Inspired by the Creta N Line and Ioniq 5, it features a pixelated closed grille with a centrally located charging port, active aero flaps, and 17-inch aero alloy wheels with low rolling resistance tyres. Silver accents and unique badging enhance its identity. While the design is modern and smart, the visible underfloor battery looks awkward from the side.

The cabin closely resembles the ICE version but adds EV-specific upgrades. A new three-spoke steering wheel with Morse code-inspired detailing, redesigned controls, and a floating centre console modernise the cabin. A column-mounted drive selector frees up space, and new eco-friendly seat materials feel premium. Rear seat space is generous, though the slightly raised floor causes a knees-up seating posture. Features like cooled storage, ventilated seats, utility trays, and a boss seat function improve practicality and comfort.

Available with 42kWh and 51.4kWh NMC battery packs, the Creta Electric delivers up to 171hp and 255Nm via a front-mounted motor. Power is smooth and linear, with brisk acceleration even in Eco mode. The 0โ€“100kph sprint takes 8.2 seconds. Five regenerative braking levels, including a one-pedal drive mode, are intuitive and well-tuned. A mild synthetic motor sound adds character under hard acceleration.

ARAI-claimed range is 390km (42kWh) and 473km (51.4kWh). In real-world mixed driving, the Long Range version returned ~426km. Charging from 10โ€“80% takes just 58 minutes with a 50kW DC charger, while full AC charging takes under 5 hours.

To manage the EVโ€™s added weight, the suspension has been stiffened. The ride is firmer than the ICE version, especially at low speeds, but it remains controlled and planted. Steering is heavier, enhancing high-speed confidence, and body roll is well contained thanks to the low battery placement. Brake feel is excellent, with seamless transition between regen and friction braking.

It inherits the ICE Cretaโ€™s rich feature list and adds more: electric seats, ADAS, rain-sensing wipers, and a new in-car payments system. Hyundaiโ€™s EV app enables easy access and payment at over 10,000 chargers. However, it misses wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and a middle rear headrest.

Priced between Rs 18โ€“24.38 lakh, the Creta Electric is costlier than its ICE sibling but delivers excellent range, solid performance, and top-tier features. Despite some ergonomic quirks and missing tech, itโ€™s a well-rounded EV that carries forward the Cretaโ€™s winning formula into the electric age.

Hyundai Creta Electric FAQs

Yes. The Hyundai Creta is now available as an all-electric SUV in India, known as the Hyundai Creta Electric. It was launched on January 17, 2025. According to Hyundai's official website, the Creta Electric is offered in six variants with two battery options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. These battery options provide a range of up to 390 km and 473 km, respectively. The introductory Creta Electric price ranges from Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 23.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The mileage of the Creta EV varies based on the battery capacity. The smaller 42 kWh battery provides a range of 390 km, whereas the larger 51.4kWh battery offers a range of 473 km. Both of these ranges are MIDC certified.

Yes. The Hyundai Creta Electric has a panoramic sunroof in the Smart (O), Smart (O) LR, Premium (O), and Excellence LR models.

The Hyundai Creta, as well as the electric (EV) version, has a 3-star safety rating from Global NCAP for both adult and child occupant protection.

The ground clearance of the Hyundai Creta EV is 200 mm. This clearance enhances its ability to navigate rough terrains and provides a smooth driving experience.

The Hyundai Creta Electric provides both AC and DC charging options. When using a 50 kW DC fast charger, the vehicle can charge from 10% to 80% in about 58 minutes. If you opt for an 11 kW AC fast charger, it takes approximately 4 hours and 50 minutes to charge from 10% to 100%

The Creta Electric range depends on the battery. The 42kWh battery offers a MIDC-claimed range of 390km, whereas the larger 51.4kWh pack delivers 473km of range. The Executive, Smart, Smart (O), and Premium variants of the Hyundai Creta Electric come with a 42kWh battery pack. The Smart (O) LR and Excellence LR use the larger 51.4kWh long-range battery.

The Hyundai Creta Electric price in India starts at โ‚น18.02 lakh and goes up to โ‚น23.82 lakh, ex-showroom.

My weekly car travel is 700 km, with 60% on state highways (two-lane) and 40% in the city. I'm confused between the Creta EV Excellence LR 51.4kWh and the Kia 2026 Seltos diesel manual or automatic. My yearly run is approximately 33,000 km. It is also for business purposes, with occasional visits to rural village areas up to 200 km, about three times a week. The above annual run includes all of this.

Since most of your driving is outside the city and even in rural areas, an electric car might pose some challenges like recharging. Rural areas don't have as many chargers as small towns or cities, and even if you do find one, voltage fluctuations are a common occurrence. Also, for long highway trips, an EV requires a lot more planning and factors like waiting queues at charging stations.
Your best bet for a hassle-free ownership experience would be a diesel SUV. The Kia Seltos is new, updated and gets a tried and tested diesel engine that suits your needs the best. We would recommend the Seltos diesel over the Hyundai Creta Electric.

With respect to my earlier query, I have booked the Maruti E Vitara Zeta variant, which is 61kW. Will this be a sensible buy, as I am replacing it with a 2016 Brezza diesel manual that has done 1.07 lakh km? The E Vitara would be automatic, as electric cars are. I plan to keep it for 10 years for city driving and occasional highway use, or would you suggest any other electric in this price band with the same battery pack and reliability as MS? Monthly run is 900km.

The Maruti Suzuki E Vitara is a sensible electric car, backed by Nexa's widespread sales and support network. It is also equipped with a large 61kWh battery, with which you can expect a highway range of approximately 370km on a full charge - city range will be better. The interiors feel premium, performance is smooth, and its light steering and tight turning radius make it very easy to manoeuvre. That said, the E Vitara's user experience is flawed, the floor is high, which results in a knees-up seating, and its suspension isn't as sorted as some rivals.
We would suggest that you consider the entry-level variants of the Kia Carens Clavis EV or Hyundai Creta Electric, both of which cover the basics well. Yes, these have a smaller 42kWh battery, but their powertrain is very efficient, which will deliver impressive real-world range. Overall, both these are excellent options for similar money as the E Vitara.

Hi, I am a 38-year-old surgeon with a daily travel of 100 km, split between city roads (50%) and state highways (50%). I am currently driving a 2018 Amaze and facing high fuel costs (around โ‚น8,000 weekly). I am looking to switch to an electric automatic SUV in the โ‚น20-35 lakh budget. I have considered the Harrier EV, XEV 9S, and Creta EV. Kindly suggest the right car (new or used) among these or any other suitable option.

The Hyundai Creta Electric is much smaller than the Tata Harrier EV and Mahindra XEV 9S, making it relatively much lighter than the other cars. It also has the smallest battery pack compared to the others, but on account of its lower kerb weight, it is a lot more efficient, and you can expect around 430km on a single charge with mixed usage.
Hyundai has also improved the battery's DC fast-charging capability recently, so charging times are also much lower. Furthermore, it is the most sorted electric SUV you can buy, with logical ergonomics and a clutter-free user interface/experience. Also, with no or minimal glitches, the Hyundai is much more reliable than the other two, and one that's very easy to recommend.
Since you have a budget of up to Rs 35 lakh, you could look for a Hyundai Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 5 is an outstanding electric car, and for all its merits, it even won our 2024 Car of the Year. It will be a bit more effort to source one, but because a facelift is expected soon, dealers will try to liquidate existing stock at mouth-watering discounts.

I am using a petrol MT EcoSport for my daily office commute and travel about 500-600 km a month. Should I go for an EV or a petrol IVT for city usage? Please share options based on your recommendation.

If you have convenient access to EV charging or, better yet, can install an EV charger at your home, an electric car is worth considering. EVs feel their best in the city with a seamless drive experience that no ICE automatic can match. Of course, refinement is another highlight. The quiet experience really adds calm to frustrating bumper-to-bumper drives.
You haven't shared your budget, but (in order of price) models like the Tata Punch EV, Tata Nexon EV, MG Windsor, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Mahindra XEV 9S should be in your consideration set.

I have been using a 2025 Honda CR-V Touring in the USA, and I recently shifted back to India. My budget for a new car is around โ‚น25 lakh. Could you suggest a car that is close to the Honda CR-V in terms of features, fuel efficiency, space, and reliability?

You could shortlist the Kia Seltos and the Mahindra XUV 7XO. Both are excellent midsize SUVs that will fall within your budget. Both are feature-rich, spacious and reliable. Since fuel efficiency is something you're concerned about, you could consider their diesel versions. If you're open to electric cars, the Hyundai Creta Electric is a fantastic option.

Asked by: Dabason Feb 16, 2026

I already have a 2019 Seltos petrol manual. Recently, I got a job, and my workplace is 45km away from my home, so it is a 90km daily drive. This long commute is taking a toll on my pocket, as I hardly get decent mileage. Moreover, pressing the clutch and brake in traffic during my return journey is frustrating and tiresome. Should I install CNG in my car, or should I sell it and buy a new one? If so, which one?

In our opinion, you should avoid retrofitting CNG to your around 7-year-old Seltos. Instead, it makes more sense to sell it and move to a newer car that is more efficient and easier on the pocket.
If you can set up home charging, an EV makes a lot of sense. It will significantly cut down your travel expenses, and, being an electric car, there is no hassle of changing gears. EVs are smooth and extremely easy to drive, which can greatly reduce daily driving stress.
Since you already own a Kia Seltos and would prefer something familiar, we would suggest considering the Hyundai Creta Electric. It is a very well-rounded product, and the calibration of the electric motor is spot on, making it extremely smooth and easy to drive. It also offers a single pedal regenerative braking mode that works beautifully, and once you get used to it, you will rarely need to use the brake pedal, reducing fatigue even further. Considering your running, we would recommend the larger 52 kWh battery pack, which should deliver over 350 km on a single charge, making it practical for your usage.
There are other, on-paper, more impressive EVs at this price point, such as the Tata Harrier EV and Mahindra BE 6. However, if you are looking for a car that is easy to drive, hassle-free and easy to live with, the Creta EV is a very strong choice.
If you prefer to stick with an internal combustion engine but want lower running costs, you should consider the Maruti Suzuki Victoris Hybrid. It runs in EV mode a lot of the time at low speeds and in stop-and-go traffic, making it very smooth and easy to drive. Being a strong hybrid, it is also extremely efficient, and even in the worst traffic conditions, you can safely expect over 20 kpl. Since it is still an ICE vehicle, occasional long highway trips donโ€™t require planning, unlike an EV. What you will need to plan, however, is luggage, as the hybrid battery under the boot floor does eat into usable boot space.
If you are willing to wait, the new Renault Duster is expected to get a hybrid powertrain around Diwali, and the next-generation Creta and Seltos are also expected to receive hybrid options early next year.

Asked by: Bhadraon Feb 3, 2026

My daily driving is between 80-120 km, mostly on the Hyderabad ORR. Once a month, I also visit my native place, which is 350 km one way from Hyderabad. Iโ€™m looking to replace my 2021 Grand i10 Nios, most likely with an EV. My budget is around โ‚น14-18 lakh. Please suggest.

With usage that high, especially highway usage, we do not recommend getting an electric car, at least not at present. While the need for cost savings is understandable, such high daily usage will require daily charging, which will quickly shorten the battery's life. Moreover, a 350km one-way trip will require an EV with a very long range, and most in this price bracket will not do it comfortably, so at least one charging stop is imperative.
Instead, we recommend a strong hybrid SUV like the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, or if you can wait until Diwali, the new Renault Duster hybrid, as it offers the best of both worlds - low running costs as well as flexibility.
If you are still set on having an EV, you would need at least a mid-size EV, such as the Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, or Kia Carens Clavis EV, in order to have enough comfortable range, but those would be outside your budget of Rs 18 lakh.

I am looking to buy an EV under โ‚น20 lakh for city commuting and want a 360-degree camera for tight spaces. Which are good options, excluding MG?

The Tata Nexon EV is a good option to consider. It is a sub-4-meter SUV thatโ€™s easy to manage in tighter spaces, and it offers a 360-degree camera. However, within your Rs 20 lakh budget, you could also get the Hyundai Creta Electric.
While it will be bigger in size, it is a more well-rounded EV with more space and better reliability. It would be costlier than the Nexon EV, but the base version would come in under your Rs 20 lakh budget.

Asked by: Kamleshon Feb 2, 2026

My running is approximately 5,000 km per year, entirely within the city. Should I go for an EV or an automatic petrol car in the โ‚น20-25 lakh price range? I am considering an EV mainly for tax savings (40% tax deduction), but I am unsure whether petrol would be better. Please guide me on what makes more sense financially, as well as from a maintenance perspective.

Since your annual usage is so low, and all within the city, an electric car makes a lot of sense, both from the point of view of tax savings and due to much lower running costs. However, our advice is not to rely on the public charging network alone, and instead ensure you have a charger installed at your home or place of work, if not both. If you do have to make an occasional outstation trip, plan carefully and pick a route with multiple public chargers along the way, topping up in small amounts as you go.
As for which car you should choose, there are plenty of options. If you want the best all-rounder with maximum efficiency, get the Hyundai Creta Electric. If you require more space, the Kia Carens Clavis EV is a great option. If you want ultimate value for money, try the Vinfast VF7. And if you want a dramatic and exciting EV with some compromises to practicality, check out the Mahindra BE 6.

I own a 2021 Ertiga that has done 30,000 km. I primarily use it for my office commute, with 2-3 long-distance trips per year (about 200-500 km). My office commute is a solo drive, but outside of the office, I use it as a family car for four people and occasionally up to six (including two kids). Iโ€™m considering upgrading to an EV, but Iโ€™m confused about which option to choose among the different ranges - Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Harrier EV, and Mahindra XEV 9S. I plan to hold this vehicle for at least 4โ€“5 years and prioritise passenger comfort and driving pleasure. Please suggest which EV I should choose.

Considering that you may occasionally need more than five seats and plan to keep the car for at least four to five years, we would recommend opting for a six or seven-seater. Because of this, the Hyundai Creta EV and the Tata Harrier EV can be ruled out, as both are strictly five-seaters.

The Mahindra XEV 9S is very competitively priced and comes loaded with features. The downside is the ride quality, especially in the second and third rows. It can feel a bit too soft due to the suspension setup. This is not much of an issue in city driving, but at highway speeds on uneven surfaces, the car tends to bounce as the suspension takes time to settle.

Since you had also shortlisted the Hyundai Creta EV, we would suggest taking a look at the Kia Carens Clavis EV, as it uses the same powertrain and battery. It works better as a six or seven-seater, thanks to a more spacious third row compared to the 9S, where even adults can travel in reasonable comfort. While it is not as powerful as the Mahindra XEV 9S. It still offers more than enough performance even with a full load, and the suspension feels more comfortable overall.

One important thing to note is the battery size. The Clavis EV has a smaller battery pack compared to the XEV 9S. In real-world usage, the Mahindra can deliver over 450 km on a full charge. While the Clavis EV is likely to offer closer to 350 km of realistic range.
