Fit and finish in certain areas
Tata completely redesigned the exterior, making it nearly unrecognizable as a facelift. Like the updated ICE Nexon, the EV draws heavily from the Curvv concept, featuring a bold split-headlamp setup, full-LED lighting, a sleeker bumper, and a wide LED light bar at the rear. New aero-efficient 16-inch alloys, the omission of blue highlights, and a stylish integrated spoiler give it a mature and modern stance. Unique to the EV are elements like a front LED bar that also shows charge status, metallic strakes in the air dam, and exclusive paint options like Empowered Oxide and Intensi-teal. These updates make the Nexon EV facelift a definite head-turner.

Inside too, the Nexon EV made a serious leap forward. Two large, crisp screens dominate the dashboard, complemented by a premium dual-tone grey interior with blue stitching. The twin-spoke steering with an illuminated logo feels nice, but its gloss black surfaces pick up smudges easily. HVAC controls are now touch-based toggles, and while visually appealing, theyโre prone to fingerprints. The gear selector is now conventional, but the new drive mode rotary dial can be slow to respond. While seat bolstering and under-thigh support have improved, the cushioning is firm, and rear headroom is tight for tall passengers. USB Type-C ports, 3-point seat belts for all, and minor tweaks improve convenience, but missing features like rear seatback pockets and proper cupholders remain a downside.
7.0
Under the hood, Tataโs Gen 2 electric motor is 20kg lighter, uses fewer rare-earth materials, and revs higher at 16,000rpm. Though torque is down to 215Nm, the flatter curve ensures smoother delivery and better efficiency. It still feels quick, doing 0-100kph in 9.3sec on wet roadsโquicker than the outgoing EV Max. The updated 45kWh version, introduced in 2024, bumped up power to 150hp, though it felt near identical to drive. Three drive modesโEco, City, and Sportโnow show clearer differentiation, especially in throttle response and power delivery.
8.0
The facelift launched with 30kWh and 45kWh batteries, the latter claiming 465km (ARAI) thanks to better aerodynamics and efficiency. Regen braking remains adjustable via paddles and now recovers more energy. In real-world tests, the 45kWh version delivered a solid 350km combined range. Tata backs the battery and motor with an 8-year/1,60,000km warranty. Charging remains limited to 7.2kW AC and 30kW DC, which is slow by current standards. However, the addition of vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle charging is a handy upgrade.
8.0
Ride quality remains firm but composed, improving at higher speeds. The Nexon EV handles well, with solid grip, confident braking, and well-weighted steering, even with efficiency-focused tyres. The rear disc brakes on higher variants further boost braking performance.
8.0
The 10.25-inch digital cluster is customisable and informative, while the 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen is fluid and bright, though slightly glitchy on the pre-production unit we tested. The system supports OTA updates, wireless smartphone connectivity, and integrates features like a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, and the new arcade.ev app store, which offers OTT and games. Top trims include ventilated seats, a wireless charger, air purifier, sunroof, JBL sound system, and connected car tech. Safety is top-tier with six airbags, ESC, parking sensors, electronic parking brake, and hill controls. The updated model has also earned a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating.
8.0
Priced from Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 17.19 lakh (ex-showroom), the Nexon EV facelift builds on its predecessorโs strengths. With major updates to design, quality, performance, and features, it nearly feels like an all-new model. Minor flaws like inconsistent fit/finish and slow charging remain, but overall, itโs a standout mid-cycle refresh that enhances an already successful formula.

Trending Questions on Tata Nexon EV - Answered by Autocar Experts
I travel 100 km daily, with about 10% city driving and 90% highway. My budget is โน15-20 lakh on-road. Please suggest a car that suits this usage pattern. Also, is buying an EV advisable for this daily distance and highway focus?
Since you have a high highway running, we would advise getting a diesel. While EVs do offer low running costs compared to diesels, the charging infrastructure, especially on highways, is still at a nascent stage.
If your commute involves a location with a fixed charger, then an EV would make sense. In that case, the Tata Nexon EV Empowered 45 would be a good option. With this version, you get a large 45kWh battery that's capable of delivering a real-world range of 345-355km on a single charge. It also gets a practical and feature-rich cabin with good ride comfort.
However, if charging is going to be an issue, a diesel SUV would be a lot less hassle. The Tata Sierra with a diesel engine and a manual gearbox would be a good option to consider. The engine is torquey and has good efficiency as well as a modern design and feature-rich cabin.
The Adventure trim also gets you a 360-degree camera, sunroof and cruise control, among other features.
I am using a petrol MT EcoSport for my daily office commute and travel about 500-600 km a month. Should I go for an EV or a petrol IVT for city usage? Please share options based on your recommendation.
I am planning to buy my first EV. I have had a good experience with ICE cars, especially my Hyundai Grand i10, which has had no major issues over a decade. I want a suggestion regarding the Nexon EV. Which of its variants is the best in terms of value for money within a budget of โน16 lakh on-road?
My annual usage will be about 8,000 km. Drive split: 80% city and 20% highway. Budget: โน13 to 16 lakh. Should I go for an EV or turbo petrol? Which car would you suggest in this budget?
I want to buy and EV/hybrid car with daily city running 50km and occasional highway running average 100km a month. I was driving a duster till I sold it in 2024. Please suggest a suitable car
The Tata Nexon EV will be the ideal choice for your requirements. The Fearless 45 version gets you the bigger 45kWh battery pack with a real-world range of 350km and it has a good set of features along with an excellent ride that will come close to the Duster you owned. It is stable on the highway, the charging network is growing rapidly and as a city car, it offers the lowest running costs in comparison to ICE.
Hi, I travel on the highway every weekend, around 200 km each way, and also commute to the office daily in heavy traffic, around 30 km each way. I am looking for an EV option with a budget of up to Rs 15 lakh. Kindly suggest.
Hello Autocar team. We are a family of five and mostly chauffeur-driven. Our daily running is almost 70 km. We want to buy an EV to save on fuel cost, primarily for city driving and occasional round trips of about 180-200 km to our native place. We have shortlisted the Punch EV Empowered S Long Range, the XUV3XO EV AX5, and the Windsor. Which one should we choose? We prefer comfort, safety, and service reliability. This will be our second car.
While the Tata Punch EV is a good all-rounder, it is perhaps a size too small for a family of 5 or to be chauffeur driven in. The Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and Windsor have far more spacious cabins, but then the Mahindra is low on boot space when it comes to your 180-200km round trip. However, this would still be our pick as it has a spacious cabin for 5, tough chassis and comfortable ride quality.
The Windsor may be more spacious on the whole, but its suspension and ride are quite stiff, and its large touchscreen, which controls the entire car, is full of bugs and glitches. Moreover, in standard guise, it has a very low range, and you would have to move up to the Pro version, which will increase your budget. Also consider the Tata Nexon EV, which, though expensive, feels like a more complete car than any of these.
I need a car that suits my 60km daily city commute, along with weekend highway drives. It should be fuel-efficient, and my budget is Rs 15 lakh. I am looking for an EV.
I am planning to buy an EV car. I have shortlisted the Creta Electric LR (Executive (O)), Nexon EV 45 (Empowered), and Mahindra BE 6. I live in Kolkata and my driving is mainly in the city with occasional highway trips, totaling around 400 km per week. Please suggest which car I should go for, as I plan to keep this car for around 10 years. Also, will it be a wise decision to buy an EV car in 2026 from a resale value perspective?
The Hyundai Creta Electric is the most practical, sensible, and most sorted EV out of the options listed. It is practical, spacious, and it drives well too. Moreover, it is very efficient, hence you can expect over 400km of range without trying too hard. Since you are looking at a long-term buy, it is the Hyundai's ownership experience that's likely to be fuss-free.
The Tata Nexon EV 45's real-world range isn't likely to be as good as the Creta Electric's. The Mahindra BE 6 is the most radical option with excellent performance, battery and range. However, its user-experience is simply too complicated, its ergonomics are flawed, and backseat space isn't as good as the others.
Short-term resale values of EVs are not as good as those of ICE cars. However, since you are likely to hold on to your car for 10 years, resale should be the least of your concerns.
Hey Autocar, I have a daily running of around 40-45 km, with a mix of city and highway use. Can you suggest whether I should go for an electric car or a diesel for my daily needs? I also consider two family trips a year. My budget is around โน15 lakh on-road, and safety is the biggest factor I am considering.
For your daily running, an electric car will do just fine, assuming you can charge your car at home, your place or work. For your highway family trips too, it will do just fine if they are about 250 to 300 kms. However, any more than that or if the route involves lots of hills, then you will need to top up. You will need to plan your travel accordingly to make sure there are sufficient chargers on your route, as they can be occupied or even not working at times.
With your Rs 15 lakh budget, you should consider the Tata Nexon EV Long Range version. Furthermore, the Nexon will also satisfy your requirement of safety as it is very well equipped and secured a 5-star BNCAP crash rating.
