Tata Nexon EV Specifications - User Reviews
I recently got the Tata Nexon Fearless variant, and I love it! The ride quality is great for both city and highway driving. The current model is already impressive, so you won't be disappointed if you decide to buy now.
Read moreAfter 16 years with the Indica, I chose the Tata Nexon. It offers the biggest upgrade in comfort, safety, performance, and features, making it the best long-term choice.
The vehicle has a stiff and busy suspension, making vertical movements and sharp bumps clearly felt in the cabin, especially by rear passengers. The steering feels vague, being very light for city parking but lacking feedback and confidence at highway speeds. The power delivery is linear and smooth but misses the sudden, thrilling acceleration punch of rival EVs. Screen-only controls for mirrors, AC, and drive modes cause dangerous driver distraction while moving. It defaults to heavy regen braking and active safety alerts every time you start, forcing tedious screen menu adjustments. The absence of a rear wiper severely blocks rear visibility during rain. The high-beam throw is weak, lacking the required range and brightness for confident nighttime highway cruising. The high cabin floor due to the battery underneath forces a cramped, knees-up seating posture for taller occupants. The AC struggles in heat, with the massive glass area and panoramic glass roof turning the cabin into a sauna, making the AC slow to cool.

I own the Nexon EV 45 Fearless, and my only regret is not stretching for the top trim to get the full feature set. Missing out on the 360-degree camera, cruise control, and ventilated seats is something you feel daily.

My wife drives 120km daily on the highway. Will the Punch EV be the right choice? If yes, why? My priorities are automatic, economical, and safety.

autocar.india
For your daily 120 km highway run requirements, with priorities of automatic transmission, low running costs, and safety, the Tata Punch EV Long Range is a strong and sensible choice. It offers the ease of an automatic, very low running costs with home charging, and a solid safety package, which aligns well with your needs. The Long Range version can comfortably handle your daily commute on a single charge, making it practical for everyday use.On the highway, the Punch EV feels stable and composed at typical cruising speeds, so it won’t feel out of its depth for your kind of usage. However, being a smaller car, it will not feel as effortless or as relaxed as a larger vehicle over long distances, especially when it comes to space and overall comfort. So yes, it is a good fit if your focus is on economy, ease of driving and safety. However, if you prefer a more relaxed and spacious experience for daily long highway runs, you may also consider upgrading to something like the Tata Nexon EV Long Range.

I need an SUV or crossover under Rs 20 lakh on-road that can handle bad roads on a daily basis without major suspension issues and also deliver good mileage. I am open to both diesel and electric vehicle options.

We would recommend waiting for the new Renault Duster, whose launch is just a few weeks away, on March 17. Like the original Duster, it is expected to offer a tough yet comfortable suspension, and it has a whopping 212mm of ground clearance, which should keep it from bottoming out on bad roads. It comes with a choice of turbo-petrol engines - a 100hp 1.0-litre and 160hp 1.3-litre - both of which are understood to be quite fuel efficient. However, if you can wait until Diwali, Renault is launching a strong hybrid version of the Duster that uses a 1.8-litre petrol engine, 1.4kWh battery and 49hp electric motor for a total of 160hp, and promises exceptional mileage. If you want a diesel option, check out the Tata Sierra diesel, and if you want an EV option, check out the Tata Nexon EV, both of which have robust suspension to tackle rough roads.

I am planning to buy a new petrol automatic car with a budget of ₹15-17 lakh. My usage is mostly city driving, and I prioritise efficiency over features and aesthetics, as long as the performance is good. I’m considering the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Skoda Kylaq. I also like the Toyota Hyryder for its hybrid efficiency, but it exceeds my budget. Which car would suit me best?

autocar.india
All the compact SUV options you've listed are powered by turbo-petrol engines, and since you are looking for efficiency, be warned, in typical city driving (stop-go conditions), these turbo-petrol engines aren't likely to be very efficient. Also, these are very sensitive to the driving style and ambient conditions, which can drop the mileage down to single digits. Among the options you've listed, the Mahindra XUV3XO 1.2 Turbo (MPI) AT is likely to satiate your need for performance while offering a smoother and comfortable experience overall. Another option you may consider is the Citroen Basalt X/Aircross X, provided there is a Citroen touchpoint in your city. However, if you want to keep the running costs down at all costs without sacrificing performance, go for the Tata Nexon EV 45.

I need an automatic car for my wife for 90% city driving. My budget is around 15 lakh. I am considering the Venue DCT, Brezza AT, and Creta CVT. Please also advise EV options. I need light steering and a car that is easy to manoeuvre in the city with reasonably good fuel economy.

autocar.india
Considering the fact that 90% of the driving would be within city limits, an electric car would be a good option. Not only are they zippier and easier to drive with light steering, but you also get the massive cost savings in terms of cost per kilometer. The Tata Nexon EV in Creative trim would be the best choice as it fits in your budget and gets the bigger 45kWh battery pack. The Hyundai Creta CVT would not fit in the Rs 15 lakh budget, and while the Maruti Suzuki Brezza AT and Hyundai Venue DCT are good, they just are not as effortless to drive in the city as the Nexon EV is.
