The Tata Nexon EV is set to be the first sub-4-metre all-electric compact SUV to get an Advanced Driving-Assistance System (ADAS). Dealer sources have indicated that a new top-spec variant with an ADAS suite will be introduced in the coming weeks to take advantage of the ongoing festive season.

  1. Nexon EV with ADAS to be available on the new Empowered + A variant
  2. Nexon EV to get Level 2 ADAS suite like Curvv and Harrier EVs

Tata Nexon EV with ADAS details

New Tata Nexon EV 45 Empowered + A variant to get the Level 2 ADAS suite

As mentioned above, Tata Motors will soon launch a new range-topping variant of the Nexon EV. In line with the addition of Level 2 ADAS and Tata’s nomenclature, this top-spec ‘Empowered +’ variant will get the ‘A’ suffix. The ADAS safety suite will only be offered with the larger 45kWh battery pack, which has an MIDC range of 489km and a real-world range of 350km. It should be noted that the Nexon EV is also available with a 30kWh battery option, which is rated at 275km by ARAI. Additionally, sources suggest that the Nexon EV 45 Empowered+ A will also be available in the Red Dark finish.

Level 2 ADAS suite brings adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and more

Tata Curvv EV ADAS suite features Tata Curvv EV’s ADAS suite used for representation only.

To the already well-equipped Nexon EV Empowered +, the new variant will add safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and lane-keep assist, forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking, auto high beam assist, traffic sign recognition, rear cross-traffic and collision warning, and a driver drowsiness detector.

Tata Nexon EV with ADAS price estimate

Will cost about Rs 75,000 more than the current top-spec Nexon EV 45 Empowered +

The Nexon EV 45 Empowered + A will cost a premium over the current range-topping variant. The current top-spec variant, the 45 Empowered +, is priced at Rs 16.99 lakh (its Red Dark version costs Rs 17.19 lakh). The new ADAS-equipped variant is likely to be priced about Rs 75,000 more. Hence, the Nexon EV 45 Empowered + A prices are expected in the Rs 17.75 lakh-17.99 lakh region.

This helps the new Nexon EV variant undercut its main rival, the MG Windsor Essence Pro, which is the top-spec 52.9kWh version with an ADAS suite and costs Rs 18.39 lakh.

We reached out to Tata Motors for an official comment regarding the launch of the Nexon EV 45 Empowered + A, but at the time of publishing this article, the brand has yet to respond.
