I am planning to buy a new petrol car for a family of 3 adults and 2 children. I am confused between the Hyundai Venue HX10, Tata Nexon Fearless Plus with ADAS, and Mahindra 3XO AX7L. I want fully loaded features. I live in a village, but the road conditions are good. Second-row comfort is my primary concern. Which is the best choice? Any other suggestions in the same segment?
The Mahindra XUV 3XO is a good option as it is spacious, offers a comfortable second row, and the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine is punchy and enjoyable to drive. The 3XO also gets a long list of features, including a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Tata Nexon is another good option. It is not as spacious as the 3XO, but it is still comfortable and has a good amount of features. The Venue is the newest car in the segment, and it does feel like one, too. It also gets a larger touchscreen and a bit more modern interior, but overall, the 3XO will fit your needs the best. The rear seat is spacious and more comfortable, the engine is more responsive, and it is loaded with features, especially in the top variants.

I currently own a 2010 Hyundai i20 petrol and want to upgrade to a new automatic car with a budget of ₹15 lakh (on-road). My usage is 50% city + 50% highway, with monthly running of ~1200–1500 km. It’s mainly for a family of 3, but sometimes 5-6 people during outings. I’m confused between petrol, diesel, and CNG. With diesel, I am worried about maintenance and city usage. CNG has good running costs, but there are long queues on weekends. My priorities are fuel efficiency, low maintenance, good safety, and long-term reliability. Based on this usage, which fuel type and automatic transmission would you recommend, and what safety aspects (airbags, build quality, ratings) should I not compromise on?
Since your running is high, it would be a choice between CNG and diesel. The Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV 3XO are both available with a diesel engine, but with a less-impressive AMT gearbox.
The Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet also get a diesel engine mated to a proper torque converter automatic, but in the Rs 15 lakh budget, you can only get the lower-spec version of the two that misses out on features. Between these four, we would recommend the Venue since it is a newer SUV with a comfy ride and a smoother automatic gearbox.
However, if you want a car for six passengers, you need to look at manual options. The Kia Carens Clavis is available with a diesel manual option that is spacious for six/seven, and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with a CNG and a 5-speed manual gearbox.

I want to purchase a second car for my wife. I commute long distances daily, up to 120-130 km, 3-4 days a week. I am looking for a budget-friendly automatic suitable for both city and highway use. Which model would be suitable?
The Hyundai Venue is a good option for your requirements. It is a spacious and comfortable SUV that is easy to drive in the city and on the highway. This Hyundai car is packed with features and tech, and the cabin feels upmarket and well-built too. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol DCT powertrain engine is peppy and suitable for your daily commute.
However, given your wife's intended long-range use of 120km plus, 3-4 days a week, we would recommend the 1.5 diesel AT. The engine is refined, and the gearbox is smooth, making it an excellent city commuter. Fuel efficiency will also be much better than the turbo petrol option.

Hello, I have a family of three adults and one child, and we go on long drives about once a month. Apart from that, the car will be used mainly on weekends. Within a budget of around Rs 12-14 lakh, I am looking for a compact SUV with comfortable seating and driving experience, good boot space, and adequate ground clearance. It should also be a reliable vehicle with low maintenance costs.
The Hyundai Venue is a good option. This new-gen is spacious, has adequate boot space and ground clearance, and with all modern niceties, it is a well-rounded option. There are several variants that'll fall within your budget - either a higher-spec 1.2-litre petrol-manual, or an entry/mid-spec 1.0-litre turbo-petrol manual/automatic version. We would recommend the turbo variants, as they offer more effortless performance, which will be handy on your occasional long drives.

I am planning to buy the Hyundai Venue HX10 petrol variant and want fully loaded features. I live in a village, but the road conditions are good. Is this a good choice, or is there a better option available?
The Hyundai Venue HX10 1.0 Turbo Petrol DCT is a good choice for you. It is a well-rounded compact SUV that offers a reasonably spacious and well-finished cabin, a refined turbo-petrol engine, and a comfortable ride quality.
The Venue also gets a long list of features, including digital dials, a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a sunroof.
The Venue HX10 is on the pricey side, but if you are fine with the price, it's the right pick.

I have a budget of Rs 14 to 15 lakh and want to purchase a compact SUV with a turbo-petrol engine and DCT gearbox. I am considering the Hyundai Venue HX8. My usage is around 300km a month. Would it be a good decision to go for the Venue HX8, or is there a better option available? I would like your expert opinion.
The Hyundai Venue HX8 is a good option for you. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine is peppy, and the DCT gearbox is smooth, despite some hesitation at low speeds. The Venue HX8 is also reasonably spacious and comes with a good set of features. You can safely go ahead with your decision.

Hello. My present car is a petrol Ritz. I want to buy a new car, preferably the Hyundai Venue. I want a lot of information regarding the DCT, how it performs in bumper-to-bumper traffic, and what the do’s and dont’s are while driving a DCT. I am a bit confused and even scared after seeing a few videos on YouTube where they mention that DCTs get heated up and may even lead to gearbox failure in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
A DCT gearbox, or Dual Clutch Transmission, as the name suggests, has two clutches, one for odd gears and one for even gears. The benefit of this setup is very fast gearshifts because one of the two clutches is always engaged. DCTs also have good fuel efficiency, as, unlike torque converter or CVT automatics, transmission losses are lower.
However, while DCTs are great for enthusiasts and sporty driving thanks to their quick shifts, they struggle in stop-and-go, bumper-to-bumper traffic, where they feel a bit jerky at low speeds and hesitant when crawling slowly.
As far as reliability goes, because DCTs are prone to overheating, there is sufficient thermal protection built in. If the DCT gets too hot, the ECU will adjust the shift logic or limit performance until the gearbox cools down. Nowadays, complete gearbox failure is rare in modern cars such as the Venue. So don’t worry, the problems that are out there on social media are more anecdotal than widespread in real-world ownership.
Some tips for getting the best life out of a DCT are;
- Stay in D mode for normal driving.
- Shift to neutral (N) if you’re stationary for a long, long time (like waiting at a crossing for minutes), which reduces heat.
- Maintain service intervals.
- Be gentle with the throttle in slow-moving traffic.
- Always use factory-recommended gearbox oil and have periodic transmission checks.

I am a family of three and need to buy a sub-4-metre SUV with the 18% GST benefit. Monthly driving is around 500 km. Highway use is once every four months. I plan to hold the car for 10 years. Please suggest a feature-rich car with high resale value. My budget is Rs 12 lakh. Petrol with automatic option, alloy wheels, and a sunroof are required.
At a time when the car market is going through a lot of changes with new regulations and electrification, predicting resale value after 10 years is hard. However, in our resale value study conducted in 2025, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Hyundai Venue came out as the models that hold their value best.
Of the two, only the Brezza AT fits within your budget, albeit in VXI trim, which misses a sunroof. The Venue DCT is pricier, still. You could consider the Maruti Suzuki Fronx AMT or Fronx Turbo AT, which meets most of your requirements and will also hold its value well.

Hello team, I want to buy a family car with a budget of Rs 10-14 lakh. I have shortlisted the XUV 3XO. Please share your suggestions. The key features I am looking for are a good safety rating, a sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and a decent engine. Also, should I wait for the new XUV 3XO model coming later this year?
Mahindra XUV 3XO is a good option. It is equipped with a 1.2 Turbo GDi, which is a punchy engine and delivers the thrill of driving. The torque converter automatic supports the engine well. In the budget you have mentioned, you will get most of the features you desire, but may miss out on a few, like the 360-degree camera.
In the manual transmission, the gear lever is a bit notchy, and the clutch is light but has a long travel. So we recommend opting for automatic. The boot of this Mahindra car is one of the smaller ones in the segment.
The other option to consider is the Hyundai Venue HX8. It was recently launched and offers all the desirable features, along with a modern and spacious cabin and good luggage space.

Please suggest a good automatic car (no AMTs) within a Rs 10-15 lakh budget. My usage will be mostly in the city, with occasional weekend highway drives.
The Hyundai Venue is a good option for you to consider. It comes with a 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that's mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The Venue petrol-DCT has a claimed mileage of 20kpl, but expect much lower figures in city driving conditions.
The Venue has an upmarket cabin, a comfortable ride, and it comes loaded in terms of features and safety kit. Hyundai Venue petrol-DCT prices range from Rs 10.67 lakh to Rs 14.56 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
