With 500 km of monthly running and mostly weekend driving, the Hyundai Venue HX5+ is a solid SUV choice. The 1.2-litre engine is very refined and fairly responsive for city use. On the highway, it will cruise comfortably, but it can feel a bit breathless when pushed. If you usually carry only one or two passengers, this shouldn't be an issue. However, if you frequently travel with a full load, you may feel the need for more performance. This is where the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is a better bet. For a similar price, you get a turbo-petrol manual, which offers better performance when required. The cabin is also wider, making it more comfortable for three passengers at the rear; however, it doesn't feel as modern inside as the Venue.Consider the Honda Amaze if you want the convenience of an automatic transmission, but otherwise, the Venue is the better choice.

Go for the Mahindra XUV 7XO AX3 2.2 Diesel AT. While your family of six has been managing in the Wagon R, the safest way to travel is for everyone to have their own seat and be properly buckled in. You have bought the right car for your original usage, and you do not need to worry about the DCT in the Venue N6. Modern DCTs are far more robust than older units, and Hyundai cars have significantly improved over years. Even in Bangalore traffic, the transmission is designed to handle stop-and-go conditions without overheating under normal use. As a preventive measure though, shift to neutral and hold the brake when the vehicle is at a standstill for a long while, rather than leaving it in 'D'. Also, on an incline, use the brakes to hold the car rather than letting it inch forward. These small steps should ensure good health for your transmission, and chances of overheating will minimize.A CVT would have been the better choice if your usage was almost entirely city traffic, as it is smoother at low speeds. But for your mix of highway and city driving, the DCT is the better all-rounder. You have made a good choice, and there is no need to second-guess it.
