•1dI am trying to decide between the Maruti Suzuki Brezza LXI (with necessary accessories) priced at ₹9.6 lakh and the Tata Nexon Pure Plus at ₹9.65 lakh. I am looking for an easy-to-maintain family car with good safety. My usage is low (around 300 km per month) with occasional trips to nearby towns. Which one would be the better choice?

Autocar India
At nearly the same price, the Tata Nexon Pure Plus does stand out for offering a stronger safety package along with more factory-fitted features, which makes it feel like the more complete car on paper. For a family buyer, this added safety is a big advantage, and you won’t need to rely on aftermarket accessories to fill gaps. It also feels more substantial on the road, which helps on occasional highway trips. However, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza LXi has its own strengths that are very relevant to your usage. With your low running of around 300 km per month, the Brezza’s reputation for easy maintenance, lower service costs, and wider service network becomes a big advantage for long-term ownership. It is also very easy to drive and live with daily. So the decision comes down to what you value more. If safety and a more feature-rich package matter most, the Nexon is the better choice. But if your priority is hassle-free ownership, lower maintenance and peace of mind over the years, the Brezza makes a very strong case, especially given your low usage.

•1wI am planning to buy a new car, and am confused between the Tata Nexon Creative+ and the Mahindra 3XO AX5 variant, both petrol and manual transmission. Can you please advise me on this, as I am pretty confused?

Autocar India
Between the Tata Nexon Creative+ and the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 petrol manual, we would suggest leaning towards the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5.The Mahindra XUV 3XO stands out for its more responsive and enjoyable petrol engine, which makes it nicer to drive in both city and highway conditions. It also feels more modern overall in terms of driving experience. In addition, the 3XO is a wider car, which, along with its longer wheelbase, makes it a more comfortable proper 5-seater, especially for three passengers in the rear.Ride quality is also comfortable and well-balanced, so it handles bad roads and daily driving duties without any issues. The main drawback of the 3XO is its smaller boot, which is something to keep in mind depending on your usage, and this is where the Tata Nexon, with a larger boot, has an advantage.

•1wI am planning to buy a new car this month. I am a first-time buyer and a new driver. I am confused between the Tata Nexon Creative Petrol AMT, Skoda Kylaq, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. My usage will include occasional trips to my hometown (around 120 km from Ranchi to Jamshedpur) and very limited daily office commuting (6-7 km). I am slightly budget-conscious, with a budget of around ₹13 lakh. Please suggest which option would be the best for me.

Autocar India
For your usage, which is mostly short daily city runs with occasional highway trips, the Tata Nexon Creative Petrol AMT does make a lot of sense. It offers the convenience of an automatic, a comfortable ride and a slightly higher driving position, which helps build confidence for a first-time driver. It also fits well within your ₹13 lakh budget, making it a sensible and practical choice for your needs. However, you should be aware that the AMT gearbox can feel a bit jerky at low speeds in stop-go traffic, which is something you will experience in your daily 6-7 km runs. The Skoda Kylaq is also worth a serious look. In fact, you can get the automatic in the Signature variant at a similar price to the Nexon Creative. While it misses out on a few features, nothing feels like a deal breaker, and it still comes with all the essentials. More importantly, its torque converter automatic is smoother and easier to drive in traffic. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza automatic is another strong option, especially for a first-time buyer, as it is very easy to drive, smooth in traffic and known for low running and maintenance costs. So the choice comes down to priorities. If you want to stay strictly within budget and are okay with a slightly less smooth automatic, the Nexon is a good pick. If you want a smoother and more effortless driving experience at a similar price, the Kylaq Signature automatic is a very strong alternative, while the Brezza remains the most fuss-free option overall.

•1wHi Autocar, I am planning to buy a compact SUV in the budget of ₹8-12 lakh. My preferences are a fuel-efficient and safe car.

Autocar India
Pick the Tata Nexon as it directly matches your two priorities. Safety first: the Nexon is well-equipped with many safety features, and it has also secured a 5‑star crash safety rating in both the GNCAP and BNCAP tests. As for efficiency, if you drive a lot, about 1500km a month, you can opt for the diesel. If not, the 1.2 petrol will be fine and deliver decent mileage. The ARAI claimed figure is around 17 kpl, and with a light foot in the city, you can expect roughly 11-13 kpl.The Nexon also sits neatly within your budget, and you could get a fairly well-equipped version too. What's more is that the Nexon has been on sale for about a decade now and Tata Motors has made many functional as well as reliability improvements, and newer Nexon have been known to be quite reliable.

•2wI am planning to buy a new car this month. I am a first-time buyer and a new driver. I am confused between the Tata Nexon Creative Petrol AMT and the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 AT. I will use the car to go to my hometown once in a while, from Bangalore to Warangal and very few times for office commute. I am a bit budget-oriented, and my budget is ₹13 lakh. I am preferring to buy the Tata Nexon Creative Petrol AMT due to the following reasons: it is within budget, and a 360-degree camera is available in this version compared to the 3XO AX5. But my worry is whether the AMT in the Nexon has any problems while driving. What do you suggest? In case AMT is not advisable, then I will go for the 3XO AX5 by stretching my budget.

Autocar India
If you are a first-time driver, the type of automatic gearbox matters a lot, and this is where the difference between these two cars becomes important. The Tata Nexon AMT is not problematic as such, but it is a basic automatic. You will feel gear shifts, slight pauses and head-nod movement, especially in stop-and-go traffic and during overtakes. It works fine if you are on a strict budget, but it is not the smoothest or most refined experience, and over time, you may start noticing these traits more.On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV 3XO A5X automatic comes with a proper torque converter gearbox, which is much smoother, more natural to drive and easier for a new driver. In city traffic as well as on your occasional Bangalore to Warangal highway drives, it will feel more effortless and confidence-inspiring.Yes, the Nexon gives you the 360-degree camera and fits better within your budget, but that is more of a convenience feature. The gearbox affects your driving experience every single day, and that is where the 3XO is clearly better. If you can stretch your budget, go for the XUV 3XO A5X automatic. The smoother gearbox will make a bigger difference to your daily driving than the extra features in the Nexon.

•2wHi team, please suggest a car to purchase with the following factors. I'm a first-time buyer, with a budget of ₹10-12 lakh. Safety is my first priority. Petrol with AMT, 360-degree camera, 30% city and 70% highway usage, family car.

Autocar India
The Tata Nexon would suit you well. It has a host of safety features like 6 airbags and electronic stability program (ESP), and has earned a 5-star safety rating from both Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP for adult and child occupant protection in the crash testing protocol. As safety is your first priority, the Nexon would do you well. Since you want a car with a 360-degree camera, opt for the Creative trim, which will come in around your budget. The Nexon also has a good and stable ride, which at higher speeds has good body control, so your highway drives would be safe and comfortable too.

•2wI am confused about whether to buy the 3XO or the Nexon. I need a reliable car with good engine performance.

Autocar India
We would suggest you go for the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 1.2 TGDi, preferably with the 6-speed automatic. Given your priorities of reliability and strong engine performance, it is the most satisfying car to drive. The big highlight is the 1.2-litre TGDi turbo-petrol engine that produces 130hp and 230Nm of torque, which is among the strongest outputs in this segment. In comparison, the petrol engine in the Tata Nexon produces around 120hp and 170Nm. That’s roughly 35% more torque in the Mahindra, and you can feel it in everyday driving, especially in the mid-range where overtakes happen. The 3XO simply feels punchier and more effortless when you press the throttle. If you are considering an automatic, the Mahindra again has an advantage. The 3XO uses a 6-speed torque-converter automatic (from Aisin), which tends to be smoother and more durable in heavy traffic and hot conditions, the kind we typically experience in India. The Nexon petrol automatic, on the other hand, uses a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCA). While dual-clutch gearboxes can shift quickly, they can also feel jerky at low speeds and tend to be less tolerant of stop-and-go traffic over the long term.Another point in favour of the 3XO is that this mStallion turbo petrol engine family has been around for several years, so it’s relatively well understood in the market. Mahindra also offers a 3-year/1,00,000km warranty, which can typically be extended up to 5 or even 7 years, giving additional peace of mind. You should confirm the exact coverage and extension options with the dealer. The main compromise with the 3XO is practicality. Its boot is smaller than the Nexon’s, roughly 360 litres versus about 380 litres in the Nexon. So, if you regularly travel with large luggage, you may have to plan a bit more carefully.

•2wI am a first-time car buyer and also a new driver. I am planning to buy a car for long-term ownership with a budget of around ₹11–12 lakh (on-road). My family has five members, and the car will be used mostly for city driving in Hyderabad, with occasional highway trips maybe once a month. I prefer an automatic transmission since it will be easier to drive in city traffic. Currently, I am considering the Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro Petrol AMT and the Tata Nexon Pure Plus S AMT Petrol. I am looking for a car that offers good safety, reliability, comfort for family use, and reasonable maintenance for long-term ownership. Between these two options, which one would you recommend? Also, are there any other better options in this price range that I should consider?

Autocar India
First, a small correction. The Mahindra XUV 3XO does not use an AMT gearbox. It comes with a proper torque converter automatic, which offers a much smoother and more refined driving experience compared to AMTs. This makes it easier to drive in city traffic and overall more comfortable for daily use.Because of this, the XUV 3XO MX2 Pro automatic becomes the better choice between the two cars you shortlisted. The wider cabin also makes it more comfortable for a family of five and the ride quality is well suited for both city drives and occasional highway trips. The Tata Nexon does offer a DCA/DCT automatic option with the turbo-petrol engine, but that variant is significantly more expensive and would go well beyond your ₹11–12 lakh budget. The Nexon AMT variants therefore do not match the smoothness of the torque converter automatic offered in the 3XO.For your requirements of ease of driving, comfort and a better automatic gearbox, the Mahindra XUV 3XO automatic would be the better option over the Nexon in your budget.

•2wI have been driving a Hyundai Santro (AMT) for the last six years, and now I am planning to upgrade with a budget of ₹12-13 lakh. My current car has done only 15,000 km in six years, so my usage is relatively low. In my next car, I am looking for features like a reverse camera, Android Auto, and voice commands to make driving easier. I am interested in the Kia Seltos, Kia Sonet, and Tata Nexon, but I am open to other suggestions as well. Which car would you recommend?

Autocar India
The Hyundai Venue will feel like a big upgrade from your Hyundai Santro AMT. The turbo petrol engine paired with the DCT gearbox offers strong performance and smooth shifts, which makes driving in the city effortless. It also gets features like a reverse camera, Android Auto connectivity and voice commands that you are specifically looking for. Overall, it will be a noticeable step up in terms of power, features, space and overall comfort.Among the other cars you mentioned, the Kia Sonet is also a good option. However, the Venue is the newer car and is more spacious. Also, a replacement for the Sonet is expected next year, which means it may feel dated sooner. The Tata Nexon petrol is another option that offers good space and a comfortable ride, but the Venue feels more refined and easier to drive and is the newer car as well. As for the Kia Seltos, it is a good SUV, but it belongs to a higher segment and will stretch well beyond your ₹12-13 lakh budget in comparable variants.

•2wI need a car for my daily commute, and my travel will be around 50-60 km every day. Most of my driving will be within the city, along with occasional highway drives on weekends. My budget should allow for an EMI of less than ₹20,000 per month. Considering my usage, should I go for a diesel or a CNG car, and which option would you recommend?

Autocar India
With your daily running of around 50-60 km, your monthly usage will easily cross 1,500 km, so choosing a fuel with low running costs makes sense. In this case, CNG is generally a better fit than diesel, especially since most of your driving is in the city. One of the better options to consider is the Tata Nexon CNG. Unlike most CNG cars, the Nexon uses a turbo-petrol engine, which means it still feels reasonably strong and comfortable even on the highway. The turbo engine produces good torque, which helps maintain performance despite running on CNG. This makes the Nexon CNG a good balance between low running costs for the city and decent highway performance for weekend drives.Another practical option is the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG, particularly the LXi or VXi variants. The Brezza uses a 1.5-litre engine with factory-fitted CNG. It is known for being smooth and reliable while still offering good mileage and reasonable performance.
