Hello Autocar, kindly help me choose between the Elevate ZX Manual and the Aircross Pure Tech AT for driving in city in weekdays and hills and highways in weekends. I want a fun-to-ride but equally comfortable ride for rear seat passengers.

Both the Honda Elevate and the Citroen Aircross have a very good ride quality and are powered by responsive engines.

For your requirements, you would not go wrong with either. However, to quantify between the two, we would rate the Aircross better in terms of ride quality, engine performance and refinement. Thus, we would recommend you pick the Citroen since driving pleasure and ride quality are very important to you.

However, make sure there is a dealer in your area and in the areas you plan to drive to, as the Citroen network is very sparse at the moment.

I own a pre-owned Gen 3 Honda City that has completed around 1,00,000 kilometres. My annual usage is only about 5,000 kilometres since I use a smaller car for city driving. The vehicle has no mechanical issues, except for its low ground clearance. Could you advise when it would be the right time to upgrade? I am currently considering the Hyundai Alcazar as a possible option.

The future of the Hyundai Alcazar is uncertain, and Hyundai may not continue with the model, which could impact its resale value. Instead, in our opinion, you could consider the Honda Elevate. It’s a solid offering from Honda: spacious, well-built, and powered by the proven 121 hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine. You already know Honda’s service standards, and your current Honda has served you well.
As for whether you should buy a new car now, 1 lakh kilometer is a reasonable milestone to think about an upgrade. But if your current car isn’t giving you any trouble, you can comfortably keep it for another 20,000km to 30,000 km.

I want to replace my 2014 Hyundai Grand i10 with a non-Hyundai car. I am considering petrol versions of the Mahindra 3XO Revx A, Honda Elevate, Brezza, and Skoda Kylaq. My budget is Rs 13 lakh on-road. My usage is mostly 15km city driving, with two outstation trips per year. My priorities are low maintenance, mileage, and rear-seat comfort for my two small children. Should I pick the naturally aspirated Honda or one of the turbo options?

Given your requirements, we feel you should choose between the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the Honda Elevate.
The Brezza is a pleasant compact SUV that ticks the boxes of comfort, space, and fuel economy. What also counts for a lot is Maruti's vast service network and relatively low cost of ownership.
The Honda Elevate is a larger SUV and offers more rear seat space as well as luggage room. It's nice to drive, and the robust suspension is also something you'll appreciate on drives out of town. However, only the Elevate SV fits within your Rs 13 lakh budget, which means you get only basic features and will have to compromise on essentials like an audio system.

My age is 72. The average driving is about 1,000km per month. I am looking for a good, safe, small automatic car for self-driving, including occasional long drives across the country. I find the Innova too big to park when I drive. Please help me choose a car under Rs 15 lakh.

There are many automatic options within your budget. Here are some models you could look at -

Skoda Kylaq: It's got a punchy petrol engine, smooth auto gearbox and has a tough build. It's not the most spacious at the back, but that should not be a deal breaker for you.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza: The Brezza automatic is a sensible pick. It's easy to drive and, while unexciting, the engine gets the job done and scores well on efficiency. The Brezza also has a practical interior. What really works in favour of the Brezza is a hassle-free ownership and service experience that you get with Maruti Suzuki
Honda Elevate: In case you need something larger, the Honda Elevate CVT in V trim is also an option worth considering. It's got a spacious interior and has a robust suspension. However, the Elevate CVT is best enjoyed with a mild driving style.

I own a Honda Jazz ZXI CVT, which has proven to be a wonderful vehicle in almost every aspect. I’m now looking for the best substitute for it. My requirements are: an automatic transmission (not AMT), safety, driving comfort, and a sunroof. My driving will be about 40% city and 60% highway - roughly 1,000 km per month.

Since you are used to the convenience and practicality of the Honda Jazz, the natural upgrade would be within the Honda family.

The Honda Elevate will be a good option to look at. It gets a practical cabin, a smooth 4-cylinder petrol engine and a CVT gearbox that is seamless, especially in the city. The SUV form factor also means good ground clearance, and it also gets a sunroof.

I am from Himachal and currently own a 4th-gen Honda City. It is very comfortable but sometimes hard to manage in the mountains. I am looking to upgrade to a rugged SUV/Jeep. I test-drove the Thar Roxx and loved the go-anywhere feel, but the lack of thigh support at the front is a deal-breaker for me. The Innova HyCross offers ideal comfort for my family and me, but an MPV feels too large for my liking, and I do not need the extra two seats. Please give some recommendations.

If you are happy with the Honda experience, you should consider the Elevate. It scores very well on seat comfort and also has other pluses like good ground clearance and a robust build. The suspension can also take quite a beating and is something that you will appreciate, especially on rough roads in the hills.
The engine is adequate but doesn’t have the punch of a turbo engine in case.
Alternatively, you could wait for the new Renault Duster that will go on sale in early 2026. The Duster is a tough amd hardy crossover, and the new one that will be offered with turbo-petrol engines should also satisfy with performance.

I am planning to replace my existing Octavia (which is 8 years old) with an SUV. My budget is ₹20 lakh. My preferences, in order, are: 1. long-term reliability (10+ years), 2. build quality, 3. comfort & space, and 4. mileage. I have considered mid-size SUVs like Victoriq, Hyryder, Creta and Elevate - and I am more inclined toward the Elevate because it ticks all my priority boxes compared to the others. Before I proceed, am I missing anything important that I should evaluate?

The Honda Elevate suits your requirements well. It is reliable, has a five-star JNCAP crash rating, offers a spacious and comfortable cabin, and its fuel efficiency should also be reasonable.

You can also consider the Maruti Victoris Hybrid if your running is high. It delivers well on all the same points, and its fuel economy is exceptional. You can expect over 20 kmpl in the city and on the highway. Moreover, the naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine of the Elevate may return about 30 to 35 percent lower efficiency.

I want to change my car and am considering a compact SUV with a petrol CVT automatic. My annual running is 10,000-15,000 km (about 80% city, 20% highway). My budget is up to ₹20 lakh, and the car should have the latest safety features. What is the best option?

The Honda Elevate ZX CVT (Elite Pack) will be the right choice for you as it will suffice your requirements. It has a sorted petrol-CVT powertrain and is excellent to drive in the city. The ZX trim also gets good safety tech like automatic braking, lane departure, 6 airbags and more.

Moreover, the ride comfort is good, and the cabin feels plush as well. It also gets an air purifier, a reversing camera with sensors and wireless connectivity, along with a large 10.2-inch touchscreen. Also, being a Honda car, it scores high on reliability, too.

I am 55 years old and planning to buy a new car under ₹15 lakh. I can extend my budget up to ₹17 lakh. I will be driving around 30 km daily in Bangalore city traffic, along with one long drive of up to 1,000 km every month. I prefer a car with good safety and the best possible mileage in city traffic. Please suggest a car that meets my requirements.

You can consider the new Maruti Suzuki Victoris petrol-automatic for its smoothness and well-rounded nature. The VXI AT variant should fall within your budget. Not only does this Maruti Suzuki car pack all the safety features you'd expect at this price, but it has also been awarded a 5-star score by Bharat NCAP for its crashworthiness. Moreover, Maruti's 1.5 petrol is known to be quite fuel efficient.
You could also consider the Honda Elevate V CVT for its seamless drive experience.

I am a retired executive looking for an SUV for city driving and occasional long-distance trips. Between the Citroen Aircross and the Honda Elevate, which would you recommend? My budget is around ₹14 lakh.

The Honda Elevate would be a better choice between the two. It has a smooth and refined petrol engine that has more power than the Citroen Aircross, and the CVT gearbox is excellent in the city. Also, it is a well-sorted car that will do the job without any drama.

The equipment kit and the ride comfort are also good, while not as good as the Aircross, it is still quite nice. Honda cars are also better in terms of their network, and after-sales touchpoints. Moreover, it also holds its future value better than the Aircross.
