I currently own a Hyundai Verna 1.5 Turbo DCT and am looking to upgrade to an executive sedan. My options include the Toyota Camry Hybrid, Audi A4, BMW 330Li, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. My usage is around 70% city driving, with an annual running of 10,000 to 15,000km. Please suggest the best option.

Out of the cars you've mentioned, the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Audi A4 are similarly priced in the mid-50 lakh, while the Mercedes C-Class and BMW 330Li are priced north of Rs 65 lakhs, which creates a huge delta in terms of pricing.
For mostly city usage, the Camry hybrid is a brilliant option. It offers a plush cabin, ride quality is extremely comfy, and being a hybrid, it will be very fuel-efficient. Its backseat feels the comfiest of the cars you've listed, too. And even though it drives well and has plenty of power on demand, the e-CVT can sound a bit strained when driven aggressively.
For similar money as a Camry (or even less after discounts), the Audi A4 gets an outstanding 2.0-litre turbo-petrol + dual-clutch automatic combination which delivers plenty of performance. Moreover, the cabin quality and overall fit-finish are a few notches above the Toyota, and its ride quality feels plush. However, its back seat isn't as comfy as the Camry, so if you are going to be regularly seated at the back, opt for the Camry hybrid instead.
Between the BMW 3-series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the BMW is more rounded. It feels nicer to drive and be driven in; cabin space is better, backseat is comfier; and its 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivers stronger performance than the C200, which gets a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol.

I want to buy a Porsche GT3. I have not driven a sports car before, and I currently drive a Jeep Compass. How can I gradually move into the sports car segment?

While the Porsche 911 GT3 is a superb sports car - and will be launching in its latest 992.2 guise in early 2026 - it is perhaps too much of a handful for one's first sports car. The GT3 has lowered, firm suspension, which, while great for handling, is not comfortable and makes the car twitchy to drive, and similarly, its steering is heavy, and its power delivery is sharp.
It's a sports car you graduate to after some experience with more manageable performance vehicles, better suited to the track than the road, and worth buying once you are fully committed. Plus, at a price of Rs 3 crore, it is an expensive gateway option. It's better to start out with a more usable car, which still has strong performance, like the BMW M2, or the Mercedes-Benz CLE AMG 53.
These cars are more usable every day, while still having great flash value and strong performance. They will let you become accustomed to a greater deal of performance, and deploy it safely on the road. The GT3 can come at a later stage.

Should I buy the Mercedes C300? Backseat space is not an issue for me, and my main concern is performance.

The backseat of a C-class is its weak point, but since that is not an issue for you, you can go right ahead and buy the Mercedes C300, especially since performance is your main criterion.

The 2-litre turbo-petrol produces a meaty 258hp and can rocket to 100kph from a standstill in around 6 seconds. You will enjoy driving it, but watch out for speed breakers as the C-class is known for its low ground clearance, although it was raised a bit during its last update.

I have been using a BMW 3 GT for many years and am now planning to buy a new SUV with a budget of around โ‚น70 to 80 lakh. My daily commute is approximately 70 km. Could you please advise on the best option available today?

Since your daily commute is as much as 70km, you should consider a diesel luxury SUV, and there are two good options in this price range. The BMW X3 is more engaging to drive, and since you have already owned a BMW car, you will likely be familiar with the brand's aftersales and service ecosystem, and could even talk to your dealership about a loyalty benefit.
However, overall, the better SUV is the Mercedes-Benz GLC. It offers a more luxurious cabin, rear seat space, and a comfortable ride. Plus, while not quite as engaging to drive as the BMW, it's still a lot of fun from behind the wheel.

I have been using a Skoda Superb car for the last few years. I am now planning to buy a new car. For some time now, I have developed knee pain. Considering this, would a SUV be better suited for me as compared to a sedan? Can you please also give me some recommendations for the car? My budget is up to โ‚น75 lakh.

While you are advised to personally test the vehicles to judge comfort, a higher-riding SUV usually is more comfortable to get into and out of than a sedan. There are a fair few options within your budget (do remember to haggle hard!), among which we'd suggest you check out the BMW iX1, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60 and Land Rover Discovery Sport.
You could also look at the Kia Carnival if you are open to the MPV body style.

I am planning to buy my first luxury car and am confused between the Audi Q3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA 200d. My daily commute is around 25 km, with long drives about once a quarter. My main requirements are strong road presence and a good driving experience.

The Mercedes-Benz GLA 200d feels more modern, with striking styling and rich interiors, compared to the Q3, which now feels dated. However, the Audi Q3 is overall a better choice for your daily commute because the 2-litre TFSI petrol is very smooth, the ride is better than the GLAโ€™s, and the cabin is a bit more spacious too.
One downside is that Audi cars donโ€™t have as good resale value as Mercedes-Benz cars, but that is compensated for by the great deals you get on Audis today. You can bargain hard with both the Mumbai dealers for a good price.

I have driven my car for around 35,000 km. Should I retain it or sell it and upgrade to a new car?

35,000 kms is not a very high mileage at all, for any car. So if the car is running fine and you are happy with its performance, we would not recommend selling it purely based on its mileage covered.

However, if you are still keen on a change to a newer car, you could look at the new Mercedes GLC or the BMW X3

Hello team. I am looking to buy a new luxury car and am unable to decide between a sedan and an SUV. Within each category, I am confused between the Mercedes GLE, BMW X5, Mercedes E-Class, and BMW 5 Series. The car will be both chauffeur-driven and self-driven. My monthly usage is around 1,300 km. My budget is approximately Rs 1.3 crore, but I can stretch to Rs 1.4 crore if truly necessary. Thank you.

While the SUVs are good options, unless you value the tall seating position and road presence they bring by virtue of their height and boxy shape, there's no need to go there. Ultimately, a sedan will almost always deliver a better driving experience than an equivalent SUV owing to its lower centre of gravity and relatively lighter weight, and factor in the aerodynamic advantage, and it's likely to be more fuel efficient too.
While the difference isn't as great in the rear seat these days, in this particular class of cars, it's the sedans that win, with their long-wheelbase designs and luxurious rear seats.
We'd recommend the Mercedes-Benz E 450 4Matic, which is as much of a treat from the driver's seat as it is from the rear. Its 381hp 3.0-litre 6-cylinder petrol engine is powerful and silky smooth, channelling torque to all four wheels for strong power delivery, which is assisted by sharp and precise steering, making for a thrilling driving experience, even for such a long car. The rear seat experience is best in class, with huge amounts of legroom, reclining seats, ambient lighting and powered sunshades all around.

I want to buy a luxury sedan for pure luxury use with an on-road budget of โ‚น1.3 crore. The car must have AWD, excellent rear seat comfort (with or without extended thigh support), ventilated seats for both front and rear occupants, top-level safety comparable to Volvo, Mercedes-grade technology, and low maintenance like a Lexus. I already own an Innova for highway use and a Nexon for city driving. Please suggest suitable options.

There isnโ€™t one car that meets all your requirements, though the Mercedes-Benz E 450 4Matic comes closest. Itโ€™s got fantastic rear seats with excellent legroom, though heating and ventilation are missing.

The six-cylinder petrol engine is also a highlight, delivering great performance with silky refinement. The 4Matic AWD system also adds to confidence and helps you make the most of the power.

I am planning to buy a luxury EV and am confused between the EQS 450, BMW iX xDrive 50, Macan Electric, and Audi e-tron SUV. This car will be for my wife, who is constantly on the move and meets HNIs regularly. The car will be chauffeur-driven. My priorities are: 1. Image 2. Range 3. Resale 4. Comfort 5. Tech Please suggest which one to buy.

All are excellent choices in this price range, but we can narrow it down. All of them pack large batteries and have good range, so that is the least of your worries.
The Porsche Macan EV is high on image value, but as a primarily chauffeur-driven car, it's not great, with ride comfort and back seat space not as good as the rest.
The Audi Q8 e-tron has arguably the best back seat and ride comfort of the lot, but it is dated now and is the lowest on flash value, and looks understated like a regular Audi SUV, and isn't packing the latest tech.
The BMW iX xDrive 50 EV is an excellent all-rounder that's powerful and great to drive, but while quirky and interesting, it doesn't quite have the presence to make a strong statement.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450, then, should be your pick. It offers good space and comfort in the second row, excellent range, great image and presence, and loads of tech, including Mercedes' much vaunted 'hyperscreen' dashboard. Resale value is still a question mark with EVs, but Mercedes is trying to change that perception with buyback schemes on its electric cars, so be sure to check those out.
