Hi, I have been using a VW Polo TDI for the last 10 years, and it has done 1,20,000 km. I am planning to exchange it for an EV and would like to know which would be a good car for my budget of Rs. 20-25 lakh. I am looking for something that offers good value for money, reliability, and hassle-free ownership. I like the VinFast VF7, BYD Atto 3, and Mahindra XEV 9S. I have shortlisted the XEV 9S because, within my budget, it seems to offer good value for money, with a 79kWh battery and 7-seat capacity. I have not considered the Tata Sierra or Tata Safari. I also feel the Creta Electric and MG Windsor have a lower range, so I have not considered them. Considering everything, including after-sales service and long-term ownership, which would be the best overall car for my budget? This is a significant investment for my family, and I plan to keep the car for at least 10 years.
The BYD Atto 3 is a well-built and reliable EV with a proven track record, but it is a 5-seater and does not offer the same level of practicality, feature set or even the performance as the XEV 9S. The VinFast VF7 is an interesting option, but you can only get the entry-level variant in your budget, and while it has strong performance, as a package, it still trails behind the XEV 9S. Since you want a 7-seater, the Tata Sierra EV is ruled out considering its 5-seater layout. The Mahindra XEV 9S is the best choice in your budget and given your requirements. It offers a large battery, good range and a practical 7-seat layout, making it a sensible family EV. However, it is worth noting that the third row is best suited for children or occasional use, and the boot space is limited with all seats up. Within Rs 25 lakh, you can get the Pack One Above variant with the bigger 79kWh battery pack and a decent feature set. Given your priorities of value for money, reliability and hassle-free ownership, the Mahindra XEV 9S is the best fit if you need a 7-seater.
Which is the best 7-seater SUV with a boxy look within a budget of Rs. 20-22 lakh that comes with sunroof and other modern features?
Go for the Mahindra XUV 7XO. It is a full-size SUV with the boxy design you like and a genuinely usable third row which is usually not the case in this price bracket. The AX7 trim with a petrol-manual powertrain fits in your budget and gets you a well-equipped cabin with panoramic sunroof, kelyess entry, powered seats and much more. If you prefer a diesel car, the AX5 with a diesel-manual powertrain will fit the bill and still come well equipped. Either way, the best choice for your requirements is the XUV 7XO so we would recommend you check within the variants to find one that suits you best.
I own a 2017 Ciaz Alpha Automatic and want to upgrade to either an electric or a hybrid car. The car will be chauffeur-driven and used only for city driving of about 40-50 km per day in Noida, with no major traffic. My budget is Rs 20-25 lakh. Please suggest good options with rear-seat comfort and safety. Thanks and regards.
For your usage, a hybrid car makes more sense. With 40-50 km daily of city driving in Noida and no major traffic, an electric car would not deliver a meaningful cost advantage over a hybrid, and you would be taking on charging infrastructure and range planning for no real benefit. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris Hybrid is the best fit for your requirements. It is a full hybrid, so it offers excellent fuel efficiency in city driving and is also comfortable to be chauffeur-driven. The rear seat is spacious, the ride is comfortable, and the car is easy to live with. Headroom is a bit tight if you are on the taller side. Avoid the sunroof if that is the case for you.The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Hybrid is mechanically identical, but the Victoris gets a more premium interior and a better feature set at a similar price. If you can charge at home and still want to go electric, the Tata Sierra EV is the best option for your needs, but given your usage, the hybrid is the more sensible choice.
Hi, I currently live in Bengaluru and am looking to buy an automatic car for my office commute. My commute is typically around 100 km per week. Given the current ethanol situation, I am considering buying an EV. I have a charger in my apartment, and there is also a fast charger nearby. My budget is around Rs. 20 lakh. I currently drive a Volkswagen Ameo and am planning to keep it for long trips. I also tried a 2021 Tata Nexon EV, but I didn't like the cabin space. I also didn't like the design of the MG Windsor. Should I consider buying a used EV or a new EV?
Our recommendation would be the new Kia Syros EV. With a 100km/week commute, home charging and a Rs 20 lakh budget, it is the best EV for a city like Bengaluru. In your budget, you can get the HTX Plus trim with the ER (Extended Range) battery that is larger at 51.4kWh with a claimed range of over 500km. Moreover, it is compact on the outside, which makes it very easy to manoeuvre in traffic, but has a surprisingly spacious interior. Big on practicality and a good feature list make its case stronger. A used electric car only makes sense if the battery health is good and range isn't affected. Other issues like tyre and suspension wear are crucial, so buying one brand new is always a better bet.
I live in Pune and am planning to change my car due to a heavy clutch. I currently own a 2020 Creta Diesel E. I am looking for a reliable automatic car with good mileage and decent features, such as a 360-degree camera. I also want decent performance and a car that I can keep for the next 10 years. My budget is around Rs. 20-22 lakh.
Given your priorities of reliability, good mileage, decent features and long-term ownership, the Kia Seltos IVT would be our recommendation. The automatic version will be better suited, as you are struggling with the heavy clutch. More specifically, the HTX(A) trim will get you everything you would want. The CVT gearbox is smooth and effortless in the city, and the naturally aspirated engine has good performance without sacrificing too much efficiency. The cabin space and quality are excellent, and the Kia cars are very reliable too. Safety is another aspect in which it scores a perfect 5-star rating in the Bharat NCAP tests. Overall, it is a very strong package and one that will suffice your needs the best.
