Honda has revealed the fuel efficiency details of the upcoming Elevate SUV ahead of its launch sometime in September 2023. Test drives for the Elevate will begin in mid-August, when it starts reaching dealerships. The Elevate is one of Honda’s most important products for India and will be its contender in the ever-competitive midsize SUV segment.

  1. Honda Elevate manual does 15.31kpl
  2. Elevate automatic delivers 16.92kpl
  3. Gets a 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol engine

Honda Elevate fuel economy and powertrain details

Honda says it has homologated the Elevate in India. Two powertrain options are available on the SUV and both are shared with the City sedan. The entry-level powertrain is the 121hp, 145Nm, 1.5-litre petrol mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This engine also gets the option of the 7-step CVT automatic. Honda will not offer a petrol-hybrid powertrain on the Elevate, but will launch a BEV based on the Elevate.

Honda has shared the SUV's fuel efficiency figures. With the manual gearbox, the Elevate returns 15.31kpl, whereas with the CVT, it delivers 16.92kpl. With a 40-litre fuel tank, the manual could cover up to 612km on a full tank, while the automatic version could cover up to 679km. Expect the real-world range to be slightly different than these figures.

Honda Elevate dimensions and variant details

The Elevate is sized quite similarly to the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, measuring 4,312mm in length, 1,790mm in width and 1,650mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,650mm. It also gets segment-leading 220mm of ground clearance.

The Elevate is available in four trims – SV, V, VX and ZX. The entry-level SV gets LED projector headlamps, automatic climate control, 16-inch steel wheels and dual front airbags.

The top-spec Elevate ZX gets the 10.25-inch touchscreen, six airbags, Honda Sensing ADAS suite, eight speakers, leatherette brown upholstery, soft-touch dashboard and auto-dimming interior day/night mirror. A unique Phoenix Orange exterior paint shade is standard on this trim only, along with a few dual-tone exterior paint shade options.

Honda Elevate expected pricing and rivals

The Elevate will be priced around Rs 1 lakh-1.5 lakh higher than the equivalent City variant, according to dealer sources. A starting price of around Rs 11 lakh is expected, with the top model being priced at around 19 lakh (ex-showroom). The Elevate, at this price, will see stiff competition from the Hyundai Creta and the recently launched Kia Seltos facelift, which get more features and an option of a diesel engine, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder, which also get petrol-hybrid powertrain options, and the Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun SUVs.
