Skoda to introduce 30 compact workshops in India

Skoda Auto today announced its plan to set up 30 ‘compact workshops’ across India by the end of this year, thus widening the network of their service touchpoints.

    • 30 compact workshops to be set up in non-metro locations
    • Capable of handling periodic maintenance and general servicing
    • Workshops will be connected to main dealer facilities

Skoda Compact Workshop: what’s to know?

Skoda’s compact workshops are aimed at expanding the brand’s service touchpoints. These workshops will be connected to the main sales outlet, and going forward, all dealer facilities in non-metro locations will have a compact workshop, which will have a minimum service facility of two bays.

These workshops will be capable of handling periodic maintenance and general repair services. These include inspection services, replacement of coolant, brake oil, ATF and brake disc or pad replacement. Customers can also get minor repairs done such as replacement of bulbs, wiper blades, car detailing and accessories fitment amongst others, which don't require specialized tools.

However, major repair or service jobs will continue to be carried out at main workshops. Following the launch of the Kushaq, Skoda has expanded its network by nearly 25 percent, with more than 170 sales and after-sales touchpoints across the country now.

Commenting on the occasion, Skoda brand director, Zac Hollis said, “We have already introduced several initiatives on this front, and I am happy to announce the start of 'Skoda Compact Workshops'. Our objective is to cater to the growing customer base and ensure that customers have a seamless experience with the Skoda brand."

    Skoda Kushaq: price and details

Available in three trims – Active, Ambition and Style – prices for the Skoda Kushaq range between Rs 10.49 – 17.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Kushaq is available with two engine options under its hood – a 115hp, 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine and a 150hp, 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine. Both engines come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. Automatic gearbox options include a 6-speed AT and a 7-speed DSG for the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre engines, respectively.

Upcoming Skoda launches in India: 2021 and beyond

The next major launch from the Czech carmaker in India will be an all-new mid-size sedan (likely to be called the Skoda Slavia), replacing the ageing Rapid. The upcoming sedan will also be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, just like the Kushaq, and will be launched sometime in early 2022. Skoda also has the facelifted Kodiaq petrol on the cards for India, which too will arrive sometime next year.
