Jeep Grand Cherokee India bookings open ; local assembly begins

    Jeep has opened bookings for its new Grand Cherokee ahead of the SUV’s India launch on November 17. Earlier, the launch was scheduled on November 11. Jeep has also started assembling the Grand Cherokee at its facility in Ranjangaon,  making it the brand's fourth model to be assembled here. Deliveries of the SUV are expected to begin by the end of November.

    Jeep Grand Cherokee: design, interior and features 

    The new Grand Cherokee is sold in two versions abroad, but India will get only the standard five-seat version and not the larger three-row Grand Cherokee L. The SUV comes with features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen at the centre and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. It even gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen for the front passenger.

    Additionally, the Grand Cherokee is equipped with ADAS tech like forward collision warning, emergency braking for pedestrians and adaptive cruise control. Other features include premium leather upholstery and a panoramic sunroof. 

    Jeep Grand Cherokee: powertrain

    The last-gen Grand Cherokee was offered with both petrol and diesel engines in India, but the new model will only come with a single 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. The engine will be paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. However, Jeep is yet to announce the power outputs for the engine. The new SUV gets the Quadra-Trac I 4x4 System and gets selectable terrain modes. 

    Jeep Grand Cherokee: rivals

    Prices for the new-gen Grand Cherokee, as per our sources, will be around Rs 85 lakh. When launched, it will compete with other luxury SUVs in the market like the Mercedes-Benz GLE and the BMW X5.
