Yet another incident of an Ola S1 Pro electric scooter unexpectedly reversing has come to light. This time around, a 65-year-old man’s Ola S1 Pro allegedly reversed without a warning while he was parking it, causing him to crash into a wall, hit his head on it and also fracture his left arm.

The incident occured in Jodhpur and was reported on LinkedIn by one Pallav Maheshwari, who claims his father suffered these severe injuries. Maheshwari alleged that a software bug in his Ola S1 Pro is what led to the incident.

This isn’t an unknown issue for Ola S1 Pro scooters as there have been a few such instances in the past. In fact, we too experienced a similar issue while testing the Ola S1 Pro, when the scooter accelerated in the reverse direction, despite being set in the Normal mode to accelerate forward. The video for this can be seen here

Besides this, there have been other software-related issues too, like when the scooter ran out of charge despite the screen displaying 15-20km of range. In March, an Ola scooter in Pune caught fire, which led to a recall of 1,441 S1 Pro units to conduct preemptive diagnostics and health checks.

On the other hand, Ola scooter sales have been rising and it recently outsold the competition to gain the top spot in April 2022. That said, it will be prudent of Ola Electric to address the aforementioned software issues as well.

At the moment, Ola Electric is yet to comment about the incident in Jodhpur. We shall update this story as and when there are any developments.
