The next edition of India’s largest auto show – the biennial Auto Expo – will open its doors to the public on February 7, 2020 and will go on till February 12, 2020.
Given that the entire auto industry is in the midst of a slowdown, it's likely that a number of manufacturers will not be at the show. We've now received confirmation that Hero MotoCorp has opted to pull out of the Auto Expo.
The statement said, "The domestic two-wheeler industry has been passing through a time of volatility, with market demand still continuing to be sluggish. Notwithstanding these challenges, Hero MotoCorp - and indeed the entire industry - is gearing up for the migration to the new emission norms ahead of the mandatory deadline of April 1, 2020. At a time such as this, it is prudent for us to prioritise our resources towards meeting business objectives for the benefit of our customers and other stakeholders.
In keeping with our prioritised objectives, we have decided after much deliberation, to skip the upcoming Auto Expo."
The fact that the industry's biggest two wheeler manufacturer will not be present at India's foremost auto show is a testament to the difficult times the automobile industry is currently facing.
