Yamaha has launched the XSR155, the much-awaited neo-retro sibling of the R15 and MT-15 in India at a price of Rs 1.50 lakh.

Yamaha XSR155: What’s different?
The XSR gets the same engine as the R15 but different styling.
For starters, the XSR155 is powered by the same 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine as the R15 and MT-15. Here too, this engine produces 18.4hp at 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm at 7,500rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The XSR also shares its perimeter chassis (or Deltabox in Yamaha’s terminology) with the R15 and MT-15, and this frame comes suspended via a USD fork and a monoshock. Its kerb weight is 137kg, 4kg lower than the MT-15’s. At 120mm, the ground-clearance is also significantly lower (50mm) compared to the MT-15
What differentiates the XSR from its 155cc brethren is its neo-retro styling. It features a round LED headlamp, a round LED tail-light and a 10-litre teardrop-shaped tank that has Yamaha spelt out on it instead of the brand’s logo. The bike even gets a rather flat, single-piece seat, adding to its retro aesthetic, as opposed to the two-piece stepped seat seen on the MT-15 and R15.
The safety suite on the XSR remains unchanged, including dual-channel ABS and traction control. However, the bike gets an LCD dash instead of a TFT display that is now available on most of Yamaha’s products, such as the FZ-X Hybrid, FZ-S Fi Hybrid and Fascino.
Priced at Rs 1.50 lakh, the XSR155 undercuts the base MT-15 by Rs 5,000 and is available in a single variant with four colour options – blue, greyish green, red and metallic silver.
