Since you're upgrading from a Ronin, we'd recommend you take a look at the Harley-Davidson X440. It has a similiar riding position, a smooth, torquey engine, and neo-retro looks as well. The 440cc motor is a refined unit and can easily cruise between 100-120kph without breaking a sweat. If you want something a little sportier, then machines like the KTM 390 Duke, Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 and TVS Apache RTR 310 are worth considering. These bikes have the performance to cruise at 120kph and more, but neither is particularly refined. A test ride of these is imperative so you can make an informed decision.

The Triumph Scrambler 400 X that you have shortlisted is a good one bike to do it all. If you have your heart set on it, you should indeed hurry up and get one soon before the 350cc replacement is launched in the coming months. While its slightly smaller successor will be identical in most ways, the smaller engine with likely reduced performance could affect performance at highway speeds. So it's better to go for the 400cc model while you can. The TVS Apache RTX 300 is another great all-rounder, and if you are ready to deal with its size and weight, then you should absolutely consider it. Do bear in mind that for someone of your stature, the RTX could prove to be a little much inside the city at slower speeds. So we would recommend a thorough test ride before you make a decision. Another option worth considering is the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450. It has a very approachable 780mm seat height, which will be helpful for you and has good performance and comfort for both city and highway usage. You should consider bikes like the Triumph Speed 400, Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 and KTM 390 Duke for your mixed city / highway usage. The Speed 400 will be the best bike inside the city, but on the highway, post 90kph, it starts to feel strained, and vibrations start to creep in at some touch points.The KTM 390 Duke will be the least city-friendly bike - but still not bad at all in isolation - but with its powerful engine and great chassis, as well as standard-fit cruise control, it will be the most sorted on the highway. Do bear in mind that if you are a larger rider, the KTM will feel the most cramped of these three. The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is a jack of all trades sort of bike, and its character is closer to the energetic Duke than the laidback Speed.A test ride of these three before you nail down your final purchase would be our advice.

Between the two bikes you are considering, both will be more than up to the job of handling your daily commute as well as the occasional weekend trip. Both the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X are powered by the same 40hp, 398cc engine and have similar levels of comfort. What you need to consider is that the Scrambler is a little heavier and has a rather tall 835mm seat height, which might not be comfortable in big city traffic.In this same segment, you should also look at the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450, which has similar performance but feels a little more sporty compared to the Speed 400. Of all the bikes you have shortlisted, the Triumph Speed 400 and Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 will be the most usable without sacrificing performance due to their upright ergonomics and powerful 40hp engines. The KTM RC 390 will feel the most at home on winding roads, but inside the city, it won't be the most user-friendly with its canted forward riding position and peaky engine. Speaking of committed ergonomics, the Triumph Thruxton 400 is by far the most uncomfortable machine here. If you plan to use it daily, you will need to put up with a seriously focused riding position.Coming to the two 310s, the TVS Apache RR 310 has been kept fresh with small updates every year, while the BMW G 310 RR has stayed pretty much the same since it came out. The TVS is also more affordable and packs in more power, features and better componentry, but if you value the BMW badge, then the G 310 RR is the most affordable way into BMW ownership. We'd also recommend taking a look at the KTM 390 Duke because it is a bike you can commute on during the week and have fun on during the weekend. In the price range you're looking at, there are a variety of options in different body styles, so we'll list them out for you. If you want a sporty road bike, then options like the KTM 390 Duke, Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 and Triumph Speed 400 are the way to go. Do bear in mind that the KTM can feel quite cramped for taller riders and, over longer stints in the saddle, this will become even more pronounced. If you are leaning toward an adventure bike, you should be looking at the TVS Apache RTX 300, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure models. The RTX will feel the slowest because of its smaller displacement, and it also weighs 180kg. Since you have a long commute from time to time and are a taller person, we would recommend you steer clear of sportbikes and cruisers. Also, stick to roadsters or adventure bikes, as they will be more comfortable. A test ride of the above mentioned options - and anything else you may shortlist - will help you decide which bike is right for you.

The Honda CB350 trio are very similar machines and we would recommend choosing the one you like the look of the most. These are plush, smooth, proven and reliable machines, although don't expect too much in terms of performance from the relaxed, long-stroke single-cylinder engine. For similar reasons, the Royal Enfield Classic / Bullet / Hunter are also worth taking a look at. The first two will feel more substantial and have more spacious ergonomics. The Hunter will feel much lighter and more compact in comparison, so depending on the sort of bike you want, you should choose between these three.Finally, the Guerrilla 450 is a far sportier and faster bike than these slower 350cc models we've suggested above. If this is the sort of riding experience you're after, it makes for a good purchase. Since this is your first bike, we'd recommend taking a proper test ride and seeing which one is best for you.

Each bike you are looking at offers a very different user experience, so we'll list each bike's pros and cons so you can make an informed decision. The Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 is a KTM 250 Duke that is wearing a neo-retro suit and as such will be comfortable, engaging yet not overwhelming to ride and return good fuel economy too. The downside is that finding a dealer could prove to be an issue depending on where you're located. The Honda CB350RS is the slowest bike among the four you've shortlisted, but it is a proven machine offering comfort, good fuel economy and the promise of reliability in the long run. The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is the fastest, most powerful bike here and will feel the most lively to ride thanks to its punchy engine and eager handling. Its sporty - read: stiff - suspension setup may not be to everyone's tastes, however. Lastly, the Bajaj Dominar 400 is the oldest bike here, and also the heaviest, but it packs in a powerful KTM-sourced engine and for highway touring will feel the most adept. However, its heavy weight will mean more effort inside the city.We'd recommend you take a thorough test ride of all these bikes before you make up your mind.

The Harley-Davidson X440 T and Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 - while similiar in displacement - have very different riding experiences. The X440 T is a relaxed roadster with comfortable suspension, neutral rider's triangle and a smooth, torquey air/oil-cooled engine. Its riding experience will be more laidback in comparison to the Guerrilla, although depending on your riding style, that can actually be a good thing. Coming to the Guerrilla 450, this is a properly sporty and fast machine, which will have better performance and handling on a twisty road. However, its suspension can feel a little stiff over bad roads - although it isn't harsh. If you want a more engaging riding experience, the Guerrilla is a better bet. Depending on what sort of rider you are, either of these bikes will serve you well. A test ride of both should help you decide.
