Hello, I want to buy the Triumph Scrambler 400 X. I am quite confused and concerned about its service and maintenance costs, so I would like advice from an expert. Should I go for the Triumph or the RE Guerrilla 450?

First things first, service and maintenance on both the Triumph Scrambler 400 X and Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 should be light on your wallet. Both bikes are made in India and spares as well as replacement cycle parts are readily available.

Coming to choosing between the Scrambler and Guerrilla, that's actually where things get complicated. You see, the Scrambler 400 X is actually powered by a 350cc engine making 40hp/32Nm while the Guerrilla's 452cc single makes 40hp/40Nm. While these bikes seem pretty closely matched in terms of peak power on paper at least, the Royal Enfield bike is sure to have an advantage in the real world with its potent mid range and additional torque.

Even in terms of handling, both bikes are likely to have different behaviour. The Guerrilla has fatter tyres compared to the Scrambler which means the Triumph will have better agility and flickability at slower speeds but conversely, the Royal Enfield will be more planted on the side of the tyre.

Both bikes are priced similarly and look quite sleek, so choosing between the two will boil down to what your preference is after a detailed test ride.

Sorry to inform that I want to choose between Triumph Tracker 400 and Guerrilla 450 apex , I am very much concerned about the maintenance cost yearly , how much that would be of both of the bikes annually for a normal user . I drive on an average 7k to 8k per year , please give me details on this , as I dont have any one in my group who owns any Triump bike , I also want to ask overall drive, feel and milage of both bikes

Tracker 400 or any Triumph 400 is a matured bike. It does the job very neatly, good midrange and descent top end. It doesn't feel heavy, it would just like a 150 to 200cc in terms of ease of handling. Guerrilla is exactly opposite Feels heavy in slow speed, but very planted. The pull in 2nd gear will make you smile everytime which is missing in triumph. Just another Duke hidden in RE batch.. if you are young and want thrill each time you ride, Guerilla is for you.. if you want calm and easy bike, truimph is for you.. test drive atleast 20 km to understand the bikes

Honestly, both bikes are great at their job and will suit your needs well, but they offer very different experiences. The Hunter 350 is a very different Royal Enfield from what we've seen before, but carries some signature strengths like plush ride quality, a characterful and torquey engine, as well as great curb appeal and good finish levels. Plus, when you buy a RE, you get access to a brand which has built a very good community and ownership experience in terms of events and rides, which is something few brands in India offer you today.Do bear in mind that the Hunter is a heavy machine, and this is just something you will have to work around. It's not as heavy as other Royal Enfields, but it is a good 20 kilos heavier than the TVS Ronin.Coming to the Ronin, this is a lighter, more agile and eager-feeling machine than the Hunter. It isn't overtly sporty and will be comfortable for daily use. The Ronin's lighter weight and smaller engine also translate to better fuel economy in general. The TVS is also the more affordable machine to purchase, and the price difference isn't insignificant. If you are on a tight budget, this is something to consider. Both bikes have a very different feel despite being similar on paper, and to make an informed decision before your next purchase, take a test ride of both.
