Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Custom launched

Harley-Davidson has launched the Sportster 1200 Custom in India. This wide-shouldered cruiser, as Harley-Davidson claims, combines the agility of a Sportster model with the attitude of a custom cruiser.

By the looks of it, the 1200 Custom does seem to fit this bill. Under the fuel tank sits a 1,200cc rubber-mounted and air-cooled Evolution engine, fed by electronic sequential port fuel injection (ESPFI). According to the bike maker, the seat and suspension have been designed keeping ride comfort in mind, whereas the front suspension and geometry have been tuned for better handling.

Details such as the pull-back handlebar, forward-mounted rider foot controls and a two-up custom seat lend the bike its cruiser persona. The geometry and 31-inch Michelin Scorcher tyres on the motorcycle are meant to improve handling and grip to levels expected of a Sportster.

The Sportster 1200 Custom will be brought to India via the CKD route, and will be assembled at Harley-Davidson’s Haryana plant, allowing it to be priced at Rs. 8,90,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
