TVS Orbiter V1

TVS has introduced a new variant of the Orbiter, dubbed the Orbiter V1. The scooter is powered by a smaller 1.8kWh battery and is now the most affordable option in the brand’s EV line-up.

  1. 1.8kWh battery offers 86km IDC range
  2. Battery-as-a-Service now available across TVS EV portfolio

TVS Orbiter V1 details

Becomes the most affordable option in the TVS EV portfolio

The TVS Orbiter V1 features a 1.8kWh battery pack that offers an IDC range of 86km. For reference, the original Orbiter – now dubbed the Orbiter V2 – comes with a 3.1kWh battery with an IDC range of 158km. While the smaller battery pack translates to a notably lower range figure, it also means charging times have reduced. A 0-80 percent charge will take a claimed 2 hours and 20 minutes, while the battery on the Orbiter V2 will take 4 hours and 10 minutes.

The rest of what the Orbiter V1 has to offer seems to have been carried over from the Orbiter V2 unchanged. This includes the 14-inch front and 12-inch rear wheel setup, LCD cluster that, along with a mobile app, enables turn-by-turn navigation, over-the-air updates, and safety alerts, including anti-theft, crash, and geo-fencing notifications. And access to Eco and Power modes, hill-hold assist, parking assist (reverse function), and cruise control. The 845mm long flat seat and 34 litres of underseat storage are identical as well.

TVS has also introduced the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option across its EV scooter portfolio, allowing customers to subscribe to battery usage instead of paying the full battery cost upfront. BaaS plans start at Rs 862 per month, and you can opt for a payment plan spanning 24, 36 or 60 months. Unlike BaaS plans offered by some other manufacturers which restrict the distance you can cover based on the plan, TVS says there is no limit on the distance you can cover, no matter what the tenure of the BaaS plan you choose. TVS also bundles in the 5 year/70,000km extended warranty into the Orbiter V1 if it is purchased via the BaaS model.

The TVS Orbiter V1 is priced at Rs 84,500 (ex-showroom Delhi, inclusive of PM e-Drive subsidy), but you can have it for as low as Rs 49,999 if you opt for the BaaS scheme. This makes it about Rs 15,000 more affordable than the Orbiter V2 priced at Rs 99,900.
