As reported by us earlier, Bajaj has priced the 2019 Bajaj Dominar at Rs 1,73,870 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new iteration is the most substantial update the Dominar 400 has received since its launch in 2017. At close to Rs 1.74 lakh, it costs about Rs 11,000 more than the Rs 1.63 lakh price on the older model. For 2019, changes come in the form of a more powerful DOHC engine, reworked suspension, and more.
For starters, it now gets a DOHC motor in place of an SOHC mill. Still, the 373.3cc, single-cylinder borrowed from the KTM 390 Duke and the switch to DOHC have resulted in a considerable bump in power – up from 35hp to 39.9hp. Peak torque, on the other hand, remains unchanged at 35Nm. Another big change is the updated suspension. Bajaj has replaced the conventional telescopic fork with a USD unit and re-tuned the rear monoshock, resulting in improved ride quality. Bajaj’s flagship ‘power cruiser' also features an updated instrument cluster. At first glance, it may look similar to the one on the older bike, but the primary cluster and the secondary tank mounted display have both been updated. The tank-mounted unit now displays gear position, trip meters and more, while the primary display now conveys information (like mileage per litre) and warnings (like side-stand down) in text form.
Other changes on the new Dominar 400 are a twin-exit exhaust which produces a slightly louder note and a bright new colour scheme called Auroral Green. The bike is also available in an all-black colour scheme called Vine Black.
At this price point, the 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 is an excellent value proposition, and despite the increased price, it still undercuts the rest of its rivals like the BMW G310R, TVS Apache RR 310, and the KTM 390 Duke by a significant margin.
