Hi Autocar team, Considering a continous change in the fuel policy ( i.e. e20, e22, e27,e30 or flex fuel). I am little confused to go ahead and buy a new car ( Honda elevate vx cvt or Seltos ivt) or should save 6-7 lakhs and buy honda amaze vx cvt till the time our government reach to a conclusion on type of fuel to be implemented in the country. Originally I have set up a budget of15-16 lakhs to buy a new car. Since my car Hyundai i10 is about to complete 15 yrs in delhi and I also need a car to commute. Please advise. Total Km (monthly): 650km, occasional highway drive (Quarterly): 2000km In case you have any other suggestion/ cars please share an expert opinion considering the facts shared above.

For a family of three that will soon become four, along with two elderly family members over the age of 60, I am considering the following petrol cars for long-term ownership. This includes Honda Amaze ZX/VX CVT, Honda Elevate V Manual, Kia Syros HTK Plus MT and Maruti Suzuki Fronx Alpha MT. Keeping long-term ownership, comfort, practicality, reliability, and overall ownership experience in mind, which of these would be the best choice for my requirements?

From your shortlist, we would pick the Honda Elevate V manual. For a growing family with two elders, this Honda car has higher seats, a wide door opening and an upright rear bench, making getting in and out easy, and it has good interior space and a big boot for luggage on trips. The smooth, reliable and strong 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol and manual are proven, and should be relatively hassle-free for 8-10 years, and it has good ground clearance too.The next best option in the petrol cars is the Syros, whose space-efficient design gives it surprising room for a sub-four-metre vehicle. Ingress and egress are good too, which will be helpful for your elder passengers, and the HTK+ variant will get you more features than the Elevate V. However, its engines, while stronger, aren't as smooth or hassle-free as the Honda's 1.5, and will cost more in maintenance over time. Plus, its suspension and ride quality are quite firm, which will be bothersome over time. The Fronx and Amaze are excellent vehicles in their own right, but for a family of four, they just don't offer as much space and practicality as the others, and thus we'd skip them. All things considered, the Honda Elevate V MT suits your needs best. The Honda Amaze price starts at Rs 7.51 lakh (ex-showroom).

I recently sold my Celerio ZXi(O) manual and am looking for a new car under Rs 13-14 lakh. I am not keen on turbo or 3-cylinder engines. My yearly running is around 8,000-10,000km, with 70% city use. I shortlisted the Honda Amaze ZX CVT/MT, Honda Elevate V MT and Kia Seltos HTE(O) MT. I also checked out the Kia Carens Premium(O), Kia Syros HTK+/HTK+(O). I want something comfortable for my parents, suitable for bad roads and reliable in the long term, especially with future E27 and BS7 norms coming. What should I buy? I am mostly a sedate driver, but occasionally like to put pedal to the metal on highways. I am buying it in the second half of June 2026 and will pay upfront. P. Given your specific requirements and budget, you should consider the Honda Elevate V MT. It comes with a simple 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with four cylinders. This Honda car feels smooth and easy to drive in traffic and has enough punch for those rare highway runs. The higher seat offers a good view out, and the good ground clearance makes dealing with bad roads easy, while its size is still friendly for city parking. Rear space is good, the backrest angle is comfortable, and the entry to the cabin isn't very high, all of which your parents will appreciate. However, if your parents’ comfort takes top priority, the Kia Carens Premium 1.5 petrol is the alternative to consider for its reclining and sliding second row and softer ride. It’s easier for elders to get in and out, but it's harder to park.
