Renault currently has the Kwid, Kiger and Triber on sale in India. Among these, the last two received comprehensive updates for the 2025 model year. The French automaker is now expected to launch two new SUVs in 2026. One of these is the Duster, which was discontinued in 2022 and is set to make its India re-entry under an all-new avatar. The second one is a 7-seat SUV based on the new Duster.

Renault Duster (Launch in Q1 2026)

Price: Rs 11 lakh to Rs 19 lakh (est.), Engines: 1.3L and 1.0L turbo-petrols likely

Renault Duster side profile

On Republic Day 2026, the Renault Duster will make its long-awaited return to the Indian market. Sources tell us the version we get will be more upmarket than the Duster sold internationally, with more premium trim and upholstery finishes. While engine options for the new Duster are yet to be officially confirmed, we expect Renault’s 156hp 1.3-litre ‘HR13’ turbo-petrol to be part of the line-up, offered with both manual and CVT transmissions.

The 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine from the Kiger could power the entry-level variants, possibly with a small power bump. Renault is also working on a localised hybrid powerplant, which could debut towards the end of 2026.

Renault 7-seater SUV (Launch in Q4 2026)

Price: Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (est.), Engines: Same as the new Duster

Renault is also readying a larger, 7-seat derivative of the new Duster, expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2026. With an exterior likely to take styling cues from the Boreal or the Bigster sold in international markets, this model will feature a longer body, three rows of seats and distinct design elements to set it apart from the standard SUV.

Under the skin, it will share its powertrains with the Duster, including the 1.3-litre HR13 turbo-petrol and possibly the smaller 1.0-litre three-cylinder, with a future hybrid powertrain also on the cards. The name, however, remains uncertain for now – Renault could still choose to incorporate ‘Duster’ into the badge when it reaches showrooms.
