Flying Flea to enter major global markets next year
Paris showroom location heralds the start of market operations.
Flying Flea showcased two concepts – C6, a retro-styled roadster and S6, a scrambler – at its debut event during EICMA 2024. While no concrete timeline has been shared, the C6 is likely to be the model it will bring to market first. Both the C6 and S6 are based on the same platform but with obvious differences to suit each product’s requisite purpose. Royal Enfield has openly been testing these bikes in rather extreme conditions for a while now, and it is also conducting thorough testing of the Himalayan electric test bed – all this points to the fact that it is gearing up to enter the EV space soon.
Flying Flea operates with over 200 engineers across the UK and India, developing proprietary motor, battery and software technologies. The company has also established manufacturing operations at Royal Enfield's Vallam Vadagal facility. Royal Enfield is also an early investor in Stark Future, a Spanish EV startup that builds low-volume, high-performance electric off-road bikes.
The Paris location, once functional, will mark Flying Flea's entry into European retail operations. Mario Alvisi, chief growth officer at Flying Flea and Royal Enfield Electric Vehicles, said the choice reflects both historical significance and market opportunity.
"France is where the original Flying Flea motorcycle played a pivotal role during World War II, and today, Paris stands not only as a global epicenter of design and culture but also is one of Europe's most dynamic two wheeler EV markets," Alvisi said. "This beautiful city represents not only our past but also our future. Therefore, we are excited to announce the opening of our first company-operated flagship store here in Paris, with this being our first step towards cementing our long-term commitment to the city and its people."
