Ducati has taken the wraps off the new Streetfighter V2, its new street naked motorcycle that’s based on the Panigale V2.

Ducati Streetfighter V2: design
The new Ducati Streetfighter V2 borrows most of its design cues from the Streetfighter V4 super naked motorcycle. The headlamp cowl, for instance, is similar to the one on the V4 that’s inspired by the Joker’s smiling face from the Batman movies. The muscular fuel tank, neatly integrated tank extensions, radiator shrouds and short tail add to the street naked looks of the motorcycle. The alloy wheels are identical to what we see on the Panigale V2 and are shod with Pirelli Diablo Rosso 4 tyres.
However, what’s missing on the Streetfighter V2 are the bi-plane wings next to the radiator. Fret not, because Ducati is offering these as an accessory. These can be either made of plastic or carbon fibre and are said to generate 27kg of downforce at 265kph.
Other differences between the Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 is the higher and wider handlebar, repositioned footpeg as well as larger and thicker seat. The seat height is 845mm.
Ducati Streetfighter V2: engine and electronics
Powering the Ducati Streetfighter V2 is a 955cc, Superquadro, twin-cylinder engine, the same as in the Panigale V2. However, it makes slightly less power and torque than its faired sibling, at 153hp and 101.5Nm respectively, albeit at the same rpms. For those wondering, the Desmo service is required at 24,000km
The engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox with an up/down quickshifter as standard. Compared to the Panigale V2, the final ratio has been shortened to improve responsiveness.
The electronics package consists of cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, engine braking, three power modes (High, Medium, Low) and three ride modes (Wet, Road and Sport). The modes and other settings can be accessed via a 4.3-inch colour TFT cluster.
Ducati Streetfighter V2: chassis
Underneath the ‘Streetfighter’ skin, the motorcycle has a cast aluminium monocoque frame that uses the engine as a stressed member, while the subframe is a trellis unit. The Streetfighter V2’s single-sided swingarm is 16mm longer than the one on the Panigale V2, for improved stability. The bike tips the scales at 178kg (dry), 2kg more than the Panigale V2.
The suspension components are similar to that on the Panigale V2. At the front, there’s a fully adjustable 43mm Showa Big Piston USD fork and a Sachs monoshock at the rear.
As far as braking components are concerned, they are the same Brembo M4.32 monobloc ones as on the Panigale V2.
