Maruti has launched its new Hyundai Creta rival, the Victoris, at an attractive introductory price of Rs 10.5 lakh. The range-topping ZXI+ (O) trim of the Maruti Victoris is priced in the range of Rs 15.82 lakh to 19.99 lakh and offers a variety of engine and gearbox options. Here, we see if the recently launched new top-spec Creta King (Rs 17.89 lakh-20.77 lakh) offers more in terms of features and safety kit than the top-spec Victoris. It should be noted that Creta N Line variants are not being considered for this comparison, and neither is the limited-run Creta King Limited Edition.

The Creta King is on offer with 115hp petrol, 116hp diesel and 150hp turbo-petrol engine options, all of which have a capacity of 1.5 litres and come with four cylinders. The Creta petrol and diesel have manual and automatic gearbox options, while the turbo-petrol is automatic only, which means the Hyundai SUV has 5 powertrain options to choose from. Meanwhile, the top-spec Victoris has 3 powertrain options – a 103hp, 1.5-litre petrol with manual and automatic transmission options, and a 116hp, 1.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid, which sends power to the front wheels via an e-CVT.

While the exterior feature list on both SUVs is similar, the Victoris ZXI+ (O) edges ahead by offering fog lights and 3 dual-tone exterior colour options. However, the Creta King claws back some of the difference by offering larger 18-inch alloy wheels. It should be noted that the Creta King Knight variant gets contrasting red brake calipers and blacked-out bits like the alloy wheels, roof rails and outside door handles.

Both SUVs are quite well-equipped in their respective range-topping forms, though the Creta seems to offer a little more in terms of tech. The Hyundai’s infotainment screen is larger; it gets a dual-zone climate control system, a cooled glove box, a wireless charger for rear passengers, reclining rear seats and a memory function for the 8-way powered driver's seat. On the other hand, the Victoris ZXI+ (O) has a head-up display, and its audio system boasts Dolby Atmos.

Both models here get adaptive cruise control courtesy of the Level 2 ADAS suite and 3 drive modes in their range-topping trims, though the Victoris ZXI+ (O) only has it with the strong hybrid version, while the Creta King’s automatic variants get the feature. Prices for the top-spec Victoris ZXI+ (O) start at Rs 15.82 lakh, and it comes across as great value for money based on the features and safety kit. The Creta King prices start at Rs 2.07 lakh higher and end Rs 78,000 higher than the Victoris. However, the top-spec Creta variant does offer a few more features than the equivalent Victoris trim.
