Questions you may find useful

I own a 2014 Maruti Swift that has covered 2.35 lakh km. My daily commute is around 120km, 5-6 days a week, with 80% of the driving on highways. I'm planning to replace it by exchanging or selling it. My priorities for the new car are safety, comfort, good ride quality, and low running costs. I live in Davanagere (577005). I'm confused between buying an EV or a CNG car. I prefer CNG because I don't have to worry about charging. I'm considering the facelifted Maruti Brezza CNG, the Tata Nexon CNG, or any other suitable option. My budget is around Rs 10 lakh, including the value of my current car. What would you recommend?

With a daily run of 120km and 80% highway driving, your priority should be low running costs, comfort and reliability. Given your budget of around Rs 10 lakh (including the exchange value of your Swift), the entry-level Maruti Brezza CNG seems like a sensible choice. It is a proven, reliable car with a comfortable ride, good suspension and low running costs. The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift will feature modern styling and a standard equipment list that will include most of the essentials. Maruti’s service network is also a big advantage.

I'm considering buying a second family car. My priorities are a comfortable 5-seater, high ground clearance and a smooth driving experience, with a budget of under 10 lakh. Which is the better choice among the Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Skoda Kushaq?

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. It is the most sensible choice for a second family car under Rs 10 lakh. It offers a comfortable 5-seat layout, good ground clearance and a smooth, fuss-free driving experience. The naturally aspirated petrol engine of this Maruti Suzuki car is refined and easy to live with. Plus, Maruti’s service network and low running costs make it a very easy car to own long-term. The rear seat is comfortable for family use, and the ride quality is well-suited to bad Indian city roads. The Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon are both good cars, but the Sonet’s rear seat is spacious, and the Nexon’s would also feel tight for a family of five. The Skoda Kushaq is spacious but is a more driver-focused car, and would go well above the Rs 10 lakh mark for even the base version. The Brezza is not the most exciting car in the segment, and there is an updated one arriving in just a few weeks.

I currently drive a Hyundai i10 CNG, with a monthly running of around 400 km, and am now planning to upgrade my car with an on-road budget of around ₹15 lakh. My running could increase to nearly 1,000 km per month in the future if my work location changes. My key priorities are: Good suspension and ride comfort Good fuel efficiency in heavy city traffic Low maintenance costs Comfortable seats for daily usage A feature like ventilated seats would be nice to have, but it is not essential. I am currently considering the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, and even upcoming ICE/CNG/EV options. I am also open to considering a used car that is up to 3 years old if it offers better value.

You should consider the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG, ideally the mid variant. It fits your brief because it gives very good mileage in stop-go traffic, and if your running rises to 1,000 km a month, the lower fuel cost helps even more. The suspension deals well with rough city roads, the seats are supportive for long hours, and Maruti’s service is easy and usually light on the wallet.Know the trade-offs: The CNG is only available with a manual, and it will feel underpowered on hills or with a full load. The CNG tank also eats into boot space. If you want an automatic for traffic, pick the Tata Punch CNG AMT automatic instead; you’ll lose some mileage, and it's a smaller car, but it will be more convenient to drive.

Which car should I go for Hyundai Venue HX10 DCT Petrol Automatic, the new facelift Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet GTX+ Petrol Automatic, or Tata Nexon Fearless+ PS DCA Petrol? My driving will be around 80% city and 20% highway. Please advise.

With 80% city use and 20% highway, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXI+ automatic is the better fit from your list. Its petrol engine with the regular automatic feels the smoothest in slow city traffic, so starts, stops and tight parking are stress-free. The ride is comfortable on bad roads, the steering is light, and the upright driving position gives clear views all around. It is also an easy car to live with day to day, with simple controls and wide service reach.Trade-offs to note: it is not as quick as the turbo-petrol options when you press hard, and the cabin does not feel as fancy as the top trims of the others. If you want a livelier drive and the most features, pick the Hyundai Venue HX10 DCT from your shortlist. It feels quicker and has a richer cabin, but the dual-clutch automatic can feel a bit hesitant in very slow, bumper-to-bumper traffic.Overall, for mostly city use, the Brezza ZXI+ automatic lines up best with what you described.

My daily city running is around 80 km, and I currently drive an AMT car. I am now planning to upgrade to an SUV and am confused between the following options: Tata Nexon AMT Kia Sonet DCT Mahindra XUV 3XO Hyundai Venue CRDi Maruti Brezza Automatic

Verified

With 80 km of mostly city driving and a clear move to a petrol automatic, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza automatic best fits your needs. Its automatic is smooth and calm in traffic, so that it will feel like a big upgrade from your current AMT. The engine is easy-going and does not feel stressed on long commutes, and Maruti’s wide service network helps when you are piling on daily kilometres.A few trade-offs to note: it is not the quickest in this group, and the cabin is not as flashy as some rivals. But for daily ease, comfort over bad roads, and low-stress ownership, it nails the brief. Why not the others for your use: the Tata Nexon with AMT still has a slight jerk and slow shifts in stop-go, which can get tiring over 80 km a day. The Kia Sonet automatic is quick but can feel a bit fussy at very low speeds. The Hyundai Venue CRDi is diesel, so it does not match your petrol ask.If you want stronger pick-up and more features, look at the Mahindra XUV 3XO automatic; it’s brisk and still smooth, though city mileage may be lower. Overall, pick the Brezza automatic.
