Upcoming Mercedes-Benz launches in India in 2026

Mercedes-Benz is expected to introduce two models for India in 2026, the CLA EV sedan and the G-Class Cabriolet. Both models could launch at different points during the year, with the CLA likely arriving in the first half and the G-Class Cabriolet possibly towards the end of 2026. Here are the details we know so far.

  1. 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA EV will debut Merc’s MB.OS platform and get 792km range
  2. G-Class Cabriolet is expected to be offered in electric, petrol and diesel powertrains

Mercedes will bring back the CLA nameplate, and this time in EV guise. The svelte, coupe-like sedan retains its character in terms of design and showcases the brand’s latest design language. Built on the new EV-first MMA architecture, which can also underpin ICE and hybrid models, the new CLA gets a longer wheelbase than before; however, the rear seat remains compromised in space. What the CLA will rely on is a digitally advanced interior that debuts Mercedes’s new MB.OS infotainment platform and a lounge-like design and vibe. The 85kWh NMC battery pack gets a claimed range of 792km (WLTP cycle), with 272hp on tap and power going to the rear wheels. The 2026 CLA EV is expected to launch in the first half of 2026 at approximately Rs 70 lakh.

2026 Mercedes-Benz G-Class Cabriolet

Expected to launch by Q4 of 2026 at an estimated price of Rs 4 crore

Upcoming Mercedes-Benz launches in India in 2026

Given the G-Wagen’s popularity in India and the fact that we’ve received almost every iteration of the current generation, the upcoming G-Class Cabriolet will most likely arrive here. The camouflaged drop-top G is currently undergoing testing in Austria and will be fully revealed towards the end of next year. It will feature a powered fabric soft-top that retracts to reveal the entire passenger compartment and even the boot – whether it gets any form of roll cage remains to be seen.

Despite the camouflage on the front and rear, it’s unlikely that Mercedes will make any major changes to the iconic G-Class design. Expect the G Cabrio to offer both electric 116kWh and 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol ICE powertrains, and it may even come in AMG and diesel guises. The G-Class Cabriolet is expected to launch later in the fourth quarter of 2026 at around Rs 4 crore.
