    New BMW 4-series GranCoupe leaked

These are the first leaked pictures of the new BMW 4-series GranCoupe. BMW will officially unveil the car at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show 2014 in March

According to BMW, the five door 4-series GranCoupe has been conceived as a more practical alternative to the 3-series sedan and will sit alongside the existing new BMW 4-series coupe and convertible range in BMW’s international model line-up.

The 4-series GranCoupe is based on the same architecture as the 4-series coupe and 3-series sedan and it measures approximately 4640mm in length and has a height of 1370mm and is 1825mm wide.

While that makes the GranCoupé exactly the same length as the 4-series coupe, the addition its rear doors and strengthened structure has raised added 100kg to its weight. Its boot capacity is tipped to be the same as the 3-series sedan, at 480 litres.

BMW appears to have given the GranCoupé a liftback body, with a more heavily curved roofline than that of the coupé that's visible in these pictures. Although visually the car looks very similar to the 3-series saloon, the GranCoupé uses a more heavily raked windscreen and rear window. The cabin of the 4-series GranCoupé is carried over unchanged from the coupé model.

The 4-series GranCoupé is likely to receive the same petrol and diesel engine options as the 4-series coupé and convertible. The GranCoupé will be natively rear-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive will be optional on some versions for some international markets.
