Nearly a year after it unveiled the latest generation of the A6, Audi has now introduced its long-wheelbase version for the Chinese market. The new Audi A6L shares its Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture and much of its overall design with the standard wheelbase model sold in several global markets. With the arrival of the new-gen A6L, Audi’s China portfolio comprises nearly 20 models, including the A6 Avant, which is still in its previous-gen avatar.
- Minor styling differences for the Chinese market
- Gets exclusive 21-inch wheels and Deep Ocean Blue colour
- Features LiDAR and Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Driving suite
New-gen Audi A6L design and interior
Boasts longer rear doors and some market-specific details.

The general design of the 2026 Audi A6L isn’t drastically different to the model available elsewhere. However, the German automaker has executed a few China-specific changes to suit local tastes. The most notable of these is at the front, where, on select trims, the large hexagonal grille features a more intricate pattern garnished with shiny trim. There are also thin LED strips on either side of the illuminated Audi logo, plus metallic trim around the grille and L-shaped units besides the side intakes.

The distinctly styled Matrix LED headlights and OLED tail-lights mirror those offered in other global-spec A6 models, whilst the rear Audi logo is now illuminated in red. One of the other major differences in the China-spec A6L are its longer rear doors, and of course, the apparent increase in distance between the front and rear wheels. Speaking of which, Audi offers this A6L with market-specific 21-inch alloy wheels finished in black, along with an exclusive Deep Ocean Blue paint scheme.

Inside the new-gen A6L, one of the aspects setting this China-spec model apart are its rear seats, which Audi claims have been “lengthened and thickened”. Furthermore, the extended wheelbase is bound to free up even more space for rear-seat occupants to stretch out. Otherwise, the modern-looking interior of the new-gen A6 has been carried over along with its triple-screen setup, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, plus an electrically dimming panoramic glass roof. However, the China-spec version features 112 integrated LEDs capable of a multitude of colours.
New-gen Audi A6L safety features
Multiple sensors and a comprehensive driving suite define the A6L.

The Audi A6L is equipped with all the necessary safety nannies expected from a luxury automaker in 2026. There are up to 9 airbags, along with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) including collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, lane-departure prevention and automated parking assist. Audi has also integrated a head-up display and 33 sensors all around the car, which includes LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) equipment as well. When coupled with the Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Driving suite, the new Audi A6L supports autonomous self-driving.
New-gen Audi A6L powertrain
Comes with petrol engines and two types of hybrid technology.
The new-gen Audi A6L is offered with two turbocharged petrol engines paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The entry-level A6L gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine backed by a mild-hybrid system, sending 204hp and 340Nm to the front wheels. There is also a higher-output version of this powerplant, where 272hp and 400Nm of torque can be directed to just the front wheels or to all fours via the Quattro all-wheel-drive system. Buyers can also opt for an adaptive air suspension system.

Meanwhile, the top variant of the 2026 Audi A6L is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 that is paired with an electric motor and a 1.7kWh lithium battery. The total output stands at 367hp and 550Nm, which means this luxury sedan can hit 100kph from a standstill in a claimed 4.6 seconds, before topping out at 250kph. While performance figures are important, the Audi A6L is first and foremost aimed at chauffeur-driven buyers; this is as applicable for China as it is for India.

The long wheelbase versions of the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class available in India were first meant for the Chinese market. Regardless, both automakers have seen takers for their respective models in India, showcasing the viability for long wheelbase luxury sedans in our market. However, it remains to be seen if Audi will follow suit with the new A6L.
