Kawasaki India is set to launch the 2022 Versys 650 by the end of this month. The model has been long overdue for an update and Kawasaki has made some notable changes.

2022 Kawasaki Versys 650: what’s new?

The Kawasaki Versys 650 gets a new, sharper fairing that’s inspired by the Versys 1000. It houses twin LED headlights and a new four-way adjustable windscreen. The rest of the bodywork is the same as before, save for a new engine cowl and new graphics to help distinguish it from the outgoing Verys 650.

The other notable update comes in the form of electronic rider aids, with the Versys 650 finally getting Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) system for improved safety. It comes with two modes – Mode 1 will be a little less intrusive, while Mode 2 offers early intervention in low-grip surfaces. The system can also be turned off.

Rounding off the list of updates is the introduction of a new TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity.

2022 Kawasaki Versys 650: engine and chassis

Mechanically, the Kawasaki Versys is identical to the outgoing bike. It is powered by a 649cc, parallel-twin engine that makes 66hp and 61Nm. The chassis and suspension are the same as well. The Showa adjustable suspension is one of the strong points of the Versys 650, especially considering that competition like the Triumph Tiger Sport 660 isn't equipped with an adjustable fork. The braking hardware on the new Versys 650 is also carried forward from the previous bike.

2022 Kawasaki Versys 650: price and availability

Considering the updates that the 2022 Versys 650 brings to the table, expect it to cost roughly Rs 30,000-50,000 more than the current Versys 650's retail price – Rs 7.15 lakh. In fact, Kawasaki India had recently announced a discount of Rs 70,000 that brought the price down to Rs 6.45 lakh. However, that offer was only valid till last month. As for the availability of the new Versys 650, we expect Kawasaki to launch the bike by the end of this month.
