Kawasaki has just launched the updated Versys 650 in India, priced at Rs 7.36 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The adventure motorcycle now gets updated styling and more features. The launch is in line with our exclusive report from earlier this month, confirming that the updated Versys 650 will be launched this month.

2022 Kawasaki Versys 650: what’s changed?

Updates to the Versys 650 include a sharper fairing design like the larger Versys 1000, new LED headlights, a new four-way adjustable windscreen and new graphics. The 2022 Kawasaki Versys is available in two colours - Lime Green and Metallic Phantom Silver.

Kawasaki has also equipped the updated Versys 650 with a new TFT display, which gets Bluetooth connectivity. For 2022, the Versys 650 gets the Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) system with two modes. Mode 1 will be a little less intrusive, while Mode 2 offers early intervention in low-grip surfaces. This system can also be turned off completely.

2022 Kawasaki Versys 650: no mechanical changes

The 2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 remains mechanically identical to the outgoing bike, meaning it’s powered by a 66hp, 61Nm, 649cc, parallel-twin engine. The suspension remains the same too, with an adjustable Showa fork up front and a preload-adjustable Showa monoshock at the rear. Braking hardware is identical to the outgoing Versys 650 as well, with dual 300mm discs at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear.

2022 Kawasaki Versys 650: pricing and rivals

Given that the outgoing Versys 650 was priced at Rs 7.15 lakh, this updated version costs just Rs 21,000 more. This comes across as a great deal given all the updates it has now received.

In terms of rivals, the updated Versys 650 will contend with the Triumph Tiger Sport 660 (from Rs 8.95 lakh) and Suzuki V-Strom 650XT (Rs 8.85 lakh). As such, the Kawasaki comfortably undercuts both its rivals.

All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi
