Honda two-wheelers in India

2001-2011: Honda’s first product for India, the iconic Activa, established Honda’s legacy in the scooter segment. The brand then stepped into the motorcycle segment with premium 150cc CB Unicorn and 125cc CB Shine (now India’s largest selling 125cc motorcycle). HMSI also introduced the Combi-Brake System (CBS) on its range of bikes in 2009, a feature that has become mandatory a decade later.

2011-2018: Since 2011, Honda has expanding production from 16 lakh units annually at one plant to 64 lakh units annually from four plants. The company entered the mass motorcycle segment in 2012 with the Dream Yuga and has built a technical center for faster development of India specific models. Honda also started the Make In India for big bikes in 2015 with CBR 650F, and later, brought out the Africa Twin. The brand’s Activa scooter is India’s highest selling two-wheeler, while its CB Shine motorcycle has breached the 70 lakh sales mark recently, helping HMSI reach the 4 crore milestone.
