Boot space
The XUV 3XOโs styling is polarising. Vertically-oriented headlights, C-shaped daytime lights and a sharply cut bumper lend the 3XO its distinctive face. In profile, the 3XO looks muscular but thereโs no escaping how brutally the tail has been chopped to keep length within 4 metres. Tail end styling makes the XUV 3XO look large and substantial.
7.0
Inside, the XUV 3XO sports a modern dashboard with cabin quality being a highlight. The dual-screen setupโa 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster are among the other items that do much for the look inside the cabin.
The front seats offer a good view and decent comfort, although larger adults may find the seat sides tight. At the back, thereโs class-leading shoulder room and enough room for three passengers.
Luggage space is reasonable with 295 litres on offer. The low floor and high loading sill do make it hard to load and unload heavy items.
8.0
The XUV 3XO comes with three engines: a 1.5-litre diesel, a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.2-litre direct injection turbo-petrol (T-GDi). All can be had with 6-speed manuals while the petrols are also offered with 6-speed automatic transmissions. The diesel is available with an AMT automatic.
The diesel is smooth and has strong torque for highway driving. The T-GDi petrol is refined and powerful, with a smooth automatic gearbox. The base petrol is refined in its own right and does not disappoint on performance either. Manual gearboxes are decent, though the shifts arenโt the smoothest.
8.0
The Mahindra XUV 3XO's 1.5-litre diesel is its most fuel efficient engine option, returning an ARAI-certified mileage of 21.2kpl when had with the AMT gearbox and 20.06kpl with manual.
The petrol T-GDI offers an official 20.1kpl (manual) and 18.2kpl (auto), while the petrol MPFI has an official test economy of 18.89kpl (manual) and 17.96kpl (auto).
8.0
Ride quality is slightly firm but the XUV 3XO handles rough roads well. Ground clearance is good and the suspension deals with the rough stuff well. The steering varies with drive modes. Grip is solid and braking is confident.
9.0
The XUV 3XO is packed with features, even in lower variants. Top versions get a 360-degree camera, Harman Kardon sound system, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, and a 65W USB charger. It also has a segment-first electric parking brake with auto-hold. The only big miss is ventilated front seats.
Safety is strong, with six airbags, ESC, three-point seatbelts for all, and ISOFIX mounts standard. Higher trims add a tyre pressure monitor and blind view monitor. ADAS features like adaptive cruise control and emergency braking work well but the controls are buried in the menus.
9.0
Priced from Rs 7.49 lakh, the XUV 3XO offers great value with more features than its rivals. Top-end models are on the pricey side but the performance on offer make them worth the stretch. With a roomy cabin, long list of features, strong engines, and keen pricing, the XUV 3XO is a well-rounded package thatโs hard to ignore.

Trending Questions on Mahindra XUV 3XO - Answered by Autocar Experts
As a first-time buyer with usage of around 400 km per month, mostly on bumpy hill roads, and a budget of around โน10 lakh (could extend some), what could be the best car? (Open to any brand.)
1) Skoda Kylaq: Tough build, punchy engine, fun handling. Rear seat space isnโt ideal for three passengers.
2) Mahindra XUV 3XO: Tough build, suspension comfort, strong engines, roomy interior. Boot isn't the largest.
3) Tata Punch Turbo: Small dimensions make it suited to hills, and ample power from the turbo engine. Smallest for rear seat passengers
4) Citroen C3 Turbo: Great engine, good ride comfort. Feels a bit basic, dealer network isn't the largest.
Hi Autocar Team, My monthly running is around 1,600-1,800 km, and about 85% of my driving is on highways. My priorities are safety, a refined engine, good mileage, and low maintenance costs. My budget is around โน15 lakh. Currently, I drive a Hyundai i20 petrol manual, but now I want to switch to an automatic car. I have shortlisted the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 diesel Autoshift and the Kia Seltos lower variant. Considering my high highway usage and priorities like safety, refinement, mileage, and maintenance, which of these would you recommend?
While the Mahindra XUV 3XO has a strong and refined engine, the AMT gearbox is not the best performing units in terms of smoothness and response. Quick overtakes on the highway would require a lot more planning with an AMT, and over time, it can get frustrating.
We would recommend checking out the Hyundai Venue as it gets a diesel engine mated to a 6-speed torque converter gearbox that is a lot better than AMT units. The Venue is also well equipped in its HX5 guise that falls within your budget. It is the newer car overall with a fresh and modern interior.
Hey Autocar, I want to buy a car. My monthly running is 500 to 700 km in Ahmedabad city. My budget is โน12-13 lakh. I want rear-seat comfort for three healthy people (for my family) for long village rides of around 200 km. Safety and long-term durability are my priorities.
I am confused to buy between mahindra xuv 3xo ax5 diesel AMT and kia new seltos hte optional petrol ivt. If considering 1000 km per month running, yearly 02 drives for 600 km round trip, if looking for good mileage, comfort level, performance and road presence. Which car should I buy considering 10 years ownership.
The Kia Seltos is the better pick. Being significantly larger than the Mahindra XUV 3XO, the Seltos offers a roomier cabin and larger boot. The Seltos IVT's engine-gearbox is also superior to the 3X0's diesel-AMT combo. The Seltos IVT delivers a seamless drive experience that the 3XO's AMT just can't match. However, the IVT will not be as fuel efficient as the 3XO diesel.
We'd urge you to extend your budget for the Seltos IVT in HTK trim that adds in essentials like a rear wiper and defogger. The HTK also gets other features such as steering reach adjust, rear window sunshades and alloy wheels.
I want to buy a new car with a maximum on-road budget of Rs 15 lakh. My annual running is very low, around 5,000-6,000 km, with about 70 percent of the driving on highways and hills and 30 percent in the city. We are a family of five and enjoy highway trips together. I have been using a Renault Kwid for the past 10 years with about 50,000 km of running, and now want to upgrade. Which car would you recommend?
The Mahindra XUV 3XO turbo-petrol makes a good pick for your needs. The engine is strong, and you'll enjoy the performance on your highway and hill drives. A tough build and absorbent suspension are other highlights of the XUV 3XO. What also makes the 3XO well-suited for you is the cabin space. The rear seat is comfortable for 3 adults and legroom is good too.
Boot space on the XUV 3XO isn't the best, though.
My daily driving is around 20 km in a small city and nearby villages, and my budget is Rs 12-14 lakh. I prefer a car with a powerful engine. Which car would you recommend?
There are a couple of options that you can consider. We've listed the highlights for each.
1) Skoda Kylaq: Punchy engine, fun handling. Rear seat space is tight, though
2) Mahindra XUV 3XO petrol: Strong engine, good ride comfort. Boot space is limited
3) Maruti Suzuki Fronx Turbo/ Toyota Taisor Turbo: Strong engine. Reliability and hassle-free ownership experience
4) Citroen C3: Strong engine. Feels a bit basic, and the service network isn't very large.
I have been using the Mahindra KUV100 mid variant since 2016, and it has now crossed 1.10 lakh km. I am planning to buy a new car with a budget of Rs 10-15 lakh and want an automatic. I am confused between the Mahindra 3XO and the Mahindra 7XO base variant, but I am open to other brands as well. My usage includes occasional city driving and one or two highway trips every month. Which car would be the better choice?
You will need to stretch your Rs 15 lakh budget significantly for the base Mahindra XUV 7XO petrol-automatic. Among the options that fit your budget, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is an excellent pick.
You could either choose the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol MPFI or 1.2-litre turbo-petrol GDI, both of which are mated to a 6-speed torque converter (automatic). The MPFI is powerful enough, smooth and has a better value than the GDI option; this is the one that we'd recommend.
I currently drive a Maruti Suzuki WagonR CNG and have covered almost 1.6 lakh km with it. Now I am planning to buy a new SUV for my family of five, with a budget of around โน12-13 lakh. My main requirements are: Comfortable backseat for family members Petrol automatic transmission No sunroof Suitable for daily city driving and office commute, as well as occasional highway trips Good ride quality with smooth handling, adequate power, and easy drivability 360-degree camera Low maintenance cost I am looking for practical features and reliability rather than fancy or gimmicky features. Could you suggest a suitable SUV?
While there are quite a few options within your budget, the Mahindra XUV 3XO and Maruti Suzuki Brezza come closest to meeting your requirements.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO offers comfortable seating at the back and does well to offer the safety of a rear centre headrest. The XUV 3XO's turbo-petrol engine also delivers class-best power, and you really experience the performance advantage out on highway drives. There's also a tough feel to the XUV 3XO backed by an absorbent suspension. You could stretch a bit and get the AX5 that packs in reasonable features for the money. However, a 360-degree camera is not part of the package.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is a more level-headed choice. Power and performance are significantly down on the XUV 3XO. The Brezza is more about an easy-going drive experience. Ride comfort is a highlight, and the well-cushioned seats are very comfortable too. Like the XUV 3XO, the Brezza is among the few compact SUVs that are comfortable for five passengers. The Brezza will prove to be more fuel-efficient than the Mahindra, though. There's also the hassle-free ownership experience that you get with buying a Maruti. The ZXI is worth a look, but again, misses the 360-degree camera you need.
I am planning to buy a new car and am confused between two options: the Tata Nexon Creative Diesel MT and the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 Diesel MT. My budget is around โน13.5 lakh on-road. Please suggest which car would be the better choice.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO feels more polished than the Tata Nexon in many ways. The Mahindra is a bit better to drive, thanks to a smoother engine and more absorbent suspension. It also has a roomier cabin, and luggage space isn't bad despite the significant difference in capacity.
The Tata Nexon diesel has its share of highlights too. It has a more responsive engine as well as sportier handling.
The Nexon Creative and XUV 3XO AX5 are well equipped for the money, but there are feature differences. The 3XO AX5 packs in an electric sunroof while the Nexon Creative gets a crisp 360-degree camera.
All things considered, it's the Mahindra XUV 3XO diesel that we'd recommend.
Hi Autocar Team, I want to buy a good, powerful SUV within โน25 lakh that has a petrol manual transmission and ADAS Level 2 features. Which category of SUV should I go for?
Considering your requirements, the Mahindra XUV 3XO with the AX7 L spec would be a good choice. It gets a powerful 131hp turbo-petrol engine, a fantastic ride quality and the most up-to-date Level 2 ADAS along with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The 3XO is a compact SUV but gets a spacious rear seat and a feature-rich cabin with a panoramic sunroof and wireless connectivity. The top-spec version will easily fit in your budget.
