Mahindra NuvoSport variants explained

Rebadged NuvoSport, Mahindra's facelifted Quanto is now on sale with prices starting at Rs 7.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Thane). As part of the facelift, Mahindra has heavily restyled the compact SUV’s front fascia,tweaked the interiors along with giving the model more features and revised mechanicals including a new chassis. The car is being offered in six variants– N4, N4+, N6, N6 AMT, N8 and N8 AMT.

What’s under the hood?

Powering the compact SUV is a new 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine badged the mHawk100. The engine offers two drive modes – Power and Economy – and is rated to produce 102hp and 240Nm of torque, which make it similar to the old Quanto’s engine. This new unit however is part of Mahindra’s all-new engine family and is closely related to the less powerful 1.5-litre mHawk80 from the TUV300.  A five-speed manual gearbox is offered as standard with the N6 and N8 variants additionally getting the option of a new five-speed AMT gearbox. Other revised mechanicals include sharing its underpinnings with the Scorpio and the TUV300 – but not the Xylo – and a new suspension setup in line with the one on the TUV300.

N4 and N4+

In terms of features, the base N4 trim is rather bare, and has notable features like power steering, air-conditioning, Eco and Power mode, reclining second row, front 12V power outlet, follow-me-home headlamps and an engine immobiliser. There is an additional trim badged N4+ available that additionally gets dual airbags, ABS, height-adjustable front seatbelts and a seatbelt reminder.

N6 and N6 AMT

The N6’s feature list builds on that of the N4+. The trim gets the inclusion of an audio system with USB and aux connectivity, Micro Hybrid technology, side and rear footstep, power windows, rear wash-wiper, remote locking, rear 12V power outlet, electric adjust wing mirrors and body cladding. The additional N6 AMT trim adds the convenience of an AMT gearbox.
