Hi, I hope all is well! I will trust your advice on a particular need I have. The EQS drives like a dream, and I am glad I followed your advice last time. I will now be required to travel from Gurgaon to Noida every day, chauffeur-driven. I'm considering the HyCross, but a friend (HyCross owner) feels it’s not good and the build quality has been compromised. I don’t see any other alternative. CRV Hybrid isn’t available yet. Any suggestions?

The trip from Gurgaon to Noida every day is quite a trek! The Toyota Innova HyCross, especially the hybrid variant, is actually your best alternative as it is quiet and offers a smooth, jerk-free drive in slow-moving traffic. The Ottoman seats are very comfortable, which is a big plus for your long commute.
Regarding the quality concerns, your friend was probably referring to the fact that some of the cabin plastics look a bit cheap and hard, and the cabin doesn’t have the plush, rich feel of German or even Korean cars. However, there is no issue with reliability, and like with every Toyota car, you can expect the HyCross to be reliable and give you many years of hassle-free and comfortable transport.

I am writing to ask for advice for the third time. Age 61. Monthly travel is 800-1,000km, sometimes more. Mostly travel to work and back, plus occasional outstation holiday trips. Outstation long-distance trips may increase in the coming years. I am looking for a reliable and comfortable 5 or 7-seater with good luggage space and good mileage. The vehicle can be petrol, hybrid, diesel or other. It is important that service in case of a breakdown is available across India. Budget up to Rs 35 lakh. Please guide.

The Toyota Innova HyCross hybrid or Maruti Suzuki Invicto hybrid are your best bets. These cars have an efficient hybrid powertrain that's likely to deliver around 13kpl in the city and 16kpl on the highway. Moreover, getting in and out is quite easy, the seats are comfortable, and the boot space is plenty. Also, despite being large cars, these are surprisingly easy to drive due to their light steering and good visibility.Lastly, both Toyota and Maruti have stellar reputations for their after-sales service and reliability, so you're likely to enjoy a trouble-free ownership experience by opting for either of these two.

I currently ride a 2025 TVS Jupiter. I have been riding non-geared scooters for the last 14 years, but I have never been comfortable with them. Due to home commitments, I could hardly switch to motorcycles earlier. Now my back and thighs hurt, and I commute 50 km daily. I need your advice on which motorcycle would be best for learning. I also plan to switch to an Apache 200 or Pulsar N250 in about a year.

Since you are going to be learning on this motorcycle, getting something approachable and lightweight will be advisable. In that regard, both the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and Bajaj Pulsar N250 are good options. Instead of getting them later, you can directly learn on these bikes and save some money, which will be lost when you sell your learner bike, because they are unintimidating machines, which will be good for a beginner rider. However, if you want something even more approachable, a simple 125cc commuter like a Honda Shine or TVS Raider would be an excellent place to start.
