I have a Liva petrol manual and want to replace it with a similar-sized small car that has more safety features such as ADAS Level 2 and an automatic transmission. My choice is the new 2025 Hyundai Venue. Is this the right choice, or do I have other options?

While there aren't too many compact cars with ADAS features, the new Hyundai Venue is one of them. It's a great all-rounder with improved ride comfort and rear-seat space, a high-tech infotainment system with excellent graphics, a wide array of engines and gearboxes, and loads of safety features, including the aforementioned ADAS.

Another good option is the Kia Syros, which has all the features of the Venue, but even greater rear seat space (and ventilated rear seats). It costs a little bit more, and its look is not to all tastes, but it offers quite a bit more.

My budget is ₹7 lakh and I do not want a Maruti Suzuki. I am open to other car makers and also considering an EV. Which car should I choose?

Unfortunately, no EV is available within a budget of Rs 7 lakh. You will have to extend your budget by at least 1-1.50 lakh to purchase the entry-level MG Comet or Tata Tiago EV. The MG Comet is an excellent urban runabout, due to its tiny footprint, which makes it easy to manoeuvre and park. Occasionally, it can seat four passengers in relative comfort, with the only limiting factor being access to its rear seats due to its two-door layout. The Tata Tiago EV is relatively more conventional in its approach, and it drives a bit better than the Comet. Also, it is the Tata Tiago EV, which will feel a bit more comfortable and confident for the occasional highway drives. Hence, if this is going to be your primary vehicle, we'd recommend the Tata Tiago EV for its well-roundedness.

I want a 5‑seater car for my family with maximum space. Most of my driving will be on the highway and minimal in the city, with 2-3 long trips per month. My budget goes up to ₹24 lakh. I already have a Tata Safari and have not faced any issues with the car, service, or dealership. Can I go with the Tata Sierra Accomplished variant?

Since you're happy with your Tata Safari and the after-sales experience has been trouble-free, go ahead with the Tata Sierra. It is a very comfortable and spacious SUV, and its ride comfort is excellent, both in the city and on the highway. You could opt for the 1.5-litre diesel version, which delivers respectable performance for your highway drives and is likely to be quite efficient too, although refinement isn't as good as some other offerings out there. Alternatively, you could opt for the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol-automatic, which is excellent in terms of performance and refinement. If you are ok with lower fuel efficiency (than the diesel version), the 1.5 turbo-petrol is the one we'd recommend.

I am looking for a 7-seater car with a maximum budget of ₹25 lakh that is suitable for both city and highway driving. Which car would be the best option for my needs?

Considering your requirements, you should take a look at the Kia Carens Clavis. The MPV is a well-rounded package that offers a comfortable ride, a spacious and practical cabin for seven people and a lengthy list of features. The Carens Clavis can be had with a 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel and a 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, both of which can be had with manual or automatic gearbox options. Alternatively, you can also consider the Hyundai Alcazar, which is mechanically identical to the Carens Clavis.

Hi, I am planning to buy an SUV for my family. My budget is around 22 lakhs. I would prefer safety and reliability and efficiency when making the purchase. I have considered sierra, seltos and xuv 700. Please help me decide which one to go for. This will be my first expensive car purchase.

The recently-launched Mahindra XUV 7XO is a good option to consider. It replaces the XUV700 and gets interior and exterior changes, along with more features. It is spacious, comfortable and has a strong set of engines. The 2.0-litre petrol is smooth and refined, and the 2.2-litre diesel is punchy and relatively efficient. You also get the added practicality of a third row of seats, which the Kia Seltos and Tata Sierra don't get. Mahindra XUV 7XO price range from Rs 13.66 lakh to Rs 24.92 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
