    Volkswagen has unveiled the Sport Coupe GTE – a sleek-looking sedan concept designed to fit in between the Passat and the Phaeton models – at the Geneva motor show.

    Based on VW's MQB platform, the GTE is a plug-in hybrid powered by a 3.0-litre V6 TSI engine and an electric motor mounted on the rear axle. The total output is rated at 374bhp with a claimed 0-100kph time of 5.2 seconds and top speed of 250kph.

    The company also claims that it offers a 50km range on electric drive alone and on a single litre of fuel as well. The concept is 4,869mm long, 1,864mm wide and sports a wheelbase of 3020mm.
