The sport utility pickup from Fiat dubbed 'Toro' has been teased prior to its official unveil. The segment is said to combine the strengths and characteristics of a truck with the comfort features and driveability of an SUV. The Toro is expected to make its debut in 2016 in Brazil.

From the teaser images, it appears that the Toro has borrowed design cues from the FCC4 four-door concept seen at the Sao Paolo motor show last year. Features such as the distinctive front fascia with the hexagonal grill, sleek LED headlights and a tall front end were seen on the said concept.

Fiat is said to have based the Toro on the current-generation Mitsubishi Triton and is likely to borrow engines from its Japanese counterpart with an entry-level, bi-fuel 1.8-litre motor producing around 140bhp. The Toto will be offered in two-wheel drive and four-wheel- drive versions.

The Fiat Toro was designed primarily for South America, where pickups have a relatively large demand. It will go on sale internationally after its official debut later this year and will rival the Toyota HiLux and the Volkswagen Amarok.
