Thierry Lespiaucq to quit as VW Group India head

Lespiaucq will assume role of chairman of the board, Volkswagen Group France.

Thierry Lespiaucq will be leaving his position as managing director – Volkswagen Group Sales India by August this year. He will be heading to France to assume the position of chairman of the board – Volkswagen Group France.

Lespiaucq came to VW India in May 2014 and took over from Mahesh Kodumudi. In March this year, he briefly took charge of Volkswagen Passenger Cars India as well, in the period between Michael Mayer's exit and the appointment of Steffen Knapp.

Lespiaucq had already served as Director of the VW Group in France from 2004 to 2010. Under the new role, he will be looking after the group's five brands – Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Seat, and Volkswagen Utility Vehicles.
