Skoda has launched the facelifted Yeti at Rs 18.63 lakh for the 4X2 variant while the Yeti 4X4 is priced at Rs 20.14 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom, Maharashtra). The updated Yeti comes with some cosmetic tweaks on the outside and in, along with some added equipment as well. The Skoda Yeti facelift, however, will only be available in the top-of-the-line Elegance trim; in both 4x2 and 4x4 variants.
Overall, the Yeti facelift's styling is now in line with Skoda's new design language. On the outside, there are new front and rear bumpers, bi-xenon headlamps, LED tail-lamps, new housings for the wing mirrors, new alloys and colour options for the roof.
On the inside, the steering wheel is a new three-spoke; the one all the other Skodas get. Feature additions include keyless go, electronically adjustable driver's seat with memory function, telephony controls on the steering, electrically foldable wing mirrors and Bluetooth connectivity on the audio system. On the safety front, the Skoda Yeti gets cruise control, ABS, EBD, brake assist, tyre pressure monitors, ESP and hill-hold.
For power, the 2.0-litre TDI unit from the old car has been retained. It makes 109bhp in the 4x2 variant coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox, and 138bhp in the 4x4 version with a six-speed manual gearbox.
Not surprisingly, the Skoda Yeti facelift is priced at a slight premium over the outgoing car and the carmaker intends to continue selling a couple of hundred units in this niche, premium compact SUV segment. But with the burgeoning crossover segment already eating into SUV sales and a new 4x4 version of the very popular Duster coming here soon, the Yeti facelift might just have to sweat a bit more to find its share of buyers.
