Nissan has teased a new concept car ahead of the Tokyo motor show 2015. This concept is rumoured to preview the next-gen Leaf electric car.
The Japanese manufacturer has issued a single, poorly lit image, showing what appears to be a hatchback that features the firm’s latest corporate grille treatment, with a distinctive kink near the C-pillar.
The short press release describes the car as “Nissan’s future vision of car intelligence and electrification”, supporting speculation that the concept will highlight autonomous technology and the latest generation of batteries and electric motors.
Insiders also suggest the car's styling will point to the next generation of Leaf, which is due by 2017. Nissan is considering expanding the Leaf sub-brand to include further models and body styles, according to the firm’s executive vice-president Trevor Mann. However, the core of the range is expected to be a five-door hatchback.
