Renault will unveil the next-gen Koleos SUV at the upcoming Beijing motor show. A first set of leaked images of this new SUV have already surfaced online, and as seen in these images, Renault will continue to badge its large SUV as Koleos, atleast in China.

The new Koleos is largely based on the Nissan X-Trail SUV sold globally. However, it gets unique styling at the front and the back, mostly inspired by the Renault Talisman sedan and the Kadjar crossover.

The new Koleos, like the X-Trail, is based on Renault-Nissan Alliance’s Common Module Family (CMF) platform. It has the same wheelbase length as the Nissan SUV at 2,705mm, while being marginally longer at 4,672mm (4,641mm) and wider at 1,843mm (1,820mm).

For the Chinese market, the new Koleos will come with two engine options, with both being four-cylinder petrol motors. The base engine is a 2.0-litre unit good for 150hp while the higher-spec 2.5-litre motor delivers 186hp. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual and a six-speed auto. For now, the new Koleos will be offered in both FWD and AWD layouts only in China.

The China-spec Koleos will be built locally at the the Renault-Nissan group’s joint venture with Dongfeng facility. However for other markets, it is likely to be built at Renault’s Busan plant in South Korea, which also manufactures the outgoing Koleos SUV. There is no news of an India launch yet.
