New Jaguar F-Pace SUV almost production-ready

The prototype of the new Jaguar F-Pace will be the official support car for Team Sky. Although the car still sports some camouflage, the pictures do provide the best look of upcoming SUV. The new SUV is expected to be showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Once ready, it will enter an increasingly crowded segment with rivals like the BMW X4 and the Porsche Macan.

The exterior of the F-Pace is along the lines of the 2013 Jaguar CX-17 concept, with only a few minor changes to the bumpers and secondary elements like the mirrors. The size and dimensions are said to
be near identical to the C-X17 which is 4.72m long – 400mm longer than a Range Rover Evoque – and 1.65m tall.

The F-Pace shares a few features with Jaguar’s XE sedan. These include Jaguar Land Rover’s Aluminum Intensive Architecture and the Ingenium 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engine, plus a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 — likely to be the flagship version of F-Pace. There is also a chance of  the F-pace coming with the supercharged 5.0-litre petrol V8, which is used in many of the Jaguar's high-performance models.

The F-Pace SUV is expected to become one of Jaguar’s two best-selling models, performing strongly in major markets such as China and the US and rivalling the volume of the upcoming XE compact saloon. Although the F-Pace is Jaguar’s first SUV, it won’t always be the only one as Jaguar is planning on launching a whole line-up of SUVs to follow, with the most promising being a rival to BMW’s X1.
