Images showing the undisguised AMG C 63 Coupé have surfaced on the internet prior to the car’s official unveiling scheduled for the Frankfurt motor show in September 2015. The images appear to be of the more powerful version of the performance-oriented coupé, the AMG C 63 S.
The AMG C 63 Coupé is the third iteration from the AMG C-class following the AMG C 63 sedan and the AMG C 63 estate currently on sale internationally. The AMG C 63 Coupé looks similar to the AMG C 63 sedan at the front but gets a more heavily raked front and rear windscreen, frameless doors, a shorter boot deck and a completely different rear-end styling that's more in line with the S-class Coupé.
Expected to make its debut beside the standard C-class Coupé at Frankfurt, the AMG C 63 Coupé is powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 as the AMG C 63 sedan pumping out 469bhp in the base tune, with the top-spec AMG C 63 S developing 503bhp.
Although based on the same rear-wheel-drive platform as its sedan sibling, the AMG C 63 Coupé sits lower, gets a different suspension tune and changed camber rates along with other mechanical changes. The coupé will also be fitted with a mechanical locking differential as standard while the S variant will get an electronic locking unit. It gets four drive modes that adjust steering, gearbox, engine and suspension settings, whereas the S model gets an additional ‘Race’ mode.
The AMG C 63 Coupé will rival the likes of the BMW M4 when it goes on sale internationally early next year.
For the Indian market, Mercedes are set to launch the AMG C 63 S on September 3. The sedan will become the fourth AMG model to be launched this year and the tenth AMG model in the company’s India portfolio.
