McLaren is understood to be developing two new variants of the 570S, one with a fold-away roof while the other with a more spacious and luxurious cabin aimed at long distance touring.

Like with the 650S Spider unveiled at the Geneva motor show 2014, the 570S Spider is expected to come fitted with  a hard-top roof and is also expected to weigh around 40kg more than its coupe counterpart. The 570S GT, on the other hand, is expected to be a more practical car with a more spacious and luxurious interior along with additional storage space aimed plainly at long distance cruising. The car is expected to feature styling changes from the 570S to accommodate this increase in space.

Under the hood, both cars are expected to carry over the same engine as the standard 570S, the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 developing 562bhp and 61.25kgm of torque. The Spider is expected to maintain performance figures close to the Coupe’s 0-100kph sprint time of 3.2 seconds and top speed of 330kph.

Mclaren is expected to reveal the GT version of the 570S sometime next year, while the drop-top 570S Spider is expected to follow around a year later.
